Shop For Sharlie & Friday Flair Features

1 · Sep 26, 2011 · 9 Comments

Happy Monday everyone!!  I am super excited for two things today.  First… I am thrilled to be involved with a wonderful fundraiser for Sharlie a wonderful lady who is in a desperate need for a double lung and heart transplant.

Long story in a nut shell… Sharlie has Cystic Fibrosis, she is a wife and a mom and needs help.  Sweet Mique of 30 Handmade Days is helping to coordinate and blogger fundraiser to help raise the funds to help in Sharlie's fight for life.  All you need to do to help is to go to Shop for Sharlie… a shop full of all kinds of wonderful tutorials, patterns, printables and more, designed specially for this event.  All you need to do is select a tutorial for example, and purchase it for $5.00 to help Sharlie's cause.  Here is the tutorial that I donated…

Sooooo… please, please, please run on over there and find a little goodie to help sweet Sharlie and her family!!

Second, you guys once again blew me away with last weeks Friday Flair.  It was a record breaker for one, and then all of the fun projects!  You guys are aaaaaamazing!  Here is some of what caught my eye this week…

{Friday Flair} What Inspires Me

0 · Sep 22, 2011 · 12 Comments

Happy {almost} Friday!!  I am going to take a break from “Who I Am” for a bit and take the opportunity to share some thoughts.

Don’t be fooled… Blogging is HARD. Way harder than I would have ever imagined when my Mom said, “I have a friend named Gabby who has a blog, you’re creative you should start a blog.”  Thanks Mom!  Here’s the break down of that…

My Mom’s friend is Gabby Blair from Design Mom… Wah Wah.  At that time I wasn’t much of a blog reader and I was so naive. Sure, I’ll take a light hearted suggestion from my Mom and become the next Gabby Blair.  Right, that’s not possible!

Gabby is a super star and Gabby is Gabby, just like Ree is Ree {The Pioneer Woman} and Angie is Angie {Bakerella.} Those spots are already taken and it would be doing yourself an injustice to try to mold yourself to become something that you are not. What we CAN do is take their inspiration to then discover who WE are and stake a claim on our little spot in this world.

{Recipe} Roasted Corn Salsa

2 · Sep 22, 2011 · 2 Comments

These days salsas aren’t just about jalapenos and tomatoes. I see all kinds of unique ingredients, like this corn salsa for instance. True, the old standbys are mixed in, but I love the idea of adding a bit of a twist with the main ingredient of toasted corn kernels. Stir in a squeeze of fresh lime, chop in cilantro, dust with salt and pepper and you’ve got a little something new to introduce your corn chips to.

Take this recipe for a spin and let me know what you think!

DIY Freezer Paper & Crinoline Butterfly Mobile

I am currently in love with a number of things, a few of which are… the color white, butterflies, freezer paper and crinoline.  What is crinoline you ask?  It's a fabric that has been used for many years under skirts and dresses to give a fuller effect.  I have started using it for a couple of projects and have fallen in love with the crisp, white, rustic effect that it can add to a project.  It cuts and tears beautifully and is a dream to work with.  Enough about that… here is what you will need to make a butterfly mobile of your own.
