How many times have you gone out with friends, and then realized that it was easier for one person to pay the bill, with you then paying them back later with cash, or vice versa? How many times have you totally forgotten to pay that person back, or vice versa… you or they have been totally stiffed. Accidently of course, but you have now paid for everyone's meal without really intending to. With Serve you never have to worry about that again. I will explain how in a minute.
A few weeks ago, I received the opportunity to take a few of my friends out for dinner on Serve. Who wouldn't jump at that chance?! I grabbed three friends and we were off for a night on the town. Living in Vegas, we have ALL kinds of options. We decided to try Bobby Flay's restaurant Mesa Grill located inside Caesars Palace down on the Las Vegas Strip.
In our group we have Janeen who is responsible for The Most Amazing Chocolate Cake Ever, Kristin the mastermind of the soon to be released Deal or Bust, your's truly, and Christene one of my regular contributors and who is also about ready to publish her first novel. What a fun group!!
We had a ball and enjoyed tasting some of Bobby's tasty creations. They were ALL divine… our favorite was the deep dish banana cream pie that we shared at the end, LOVELY. At the end of the meal we split the check four ways and everyone paid for their portion… Now, here is where Serve comes in.
Serve is a brand new way to send, request and receive money securely via email. You can transfer money right from your smartphone and take the hassle out of trying to remember to write a check or running to the ATM to get cash. You can link your Serve account to either your bank account or a credit card to make sure you constantly have access to funds. When you sign up for Serve they send you a Serve card that acts like a prepaid credit card. It's so convenient!
I mentioned before that Serve was going to pay for the meal, right? Well, what they did was deposit some money in my Serve account. Then while we were sitting right at the table I sent money to each of the girls to their Serve accounts to reimburse them for their meals directly from my smart phone.
Serve has an app for your iphone, Droid or Windows phones… so everyone should be covered. The app is so easy to set-up and use, it took me just a couple of minutes. Then all I had to do is click on the SEND MONEY button and enter one of their email address and voila… the money is sent directly to their Serve account…
How COOL is that. It was so fun chatting about Serve and all of the great ways that we could use this new service. It was kind of funny… one of the girls in the group actually forgot their wallet that night. It really helped us realize how neat it is that it really wasn't a big deal. I could pay for the meal, she could then take out her phone and settle things up with me before we even left the table.
Also… Christene teaches piano lessons and we thought this would be a GREAT way to keep track of her earnings. She would be able to send a funds request to all of her families at the beginning of the month and then all they would have to do is email their payment right then and there. No waiting for three weeks for your students to take care of their bills… I wouldn't know ANYTHING about that! I think I may be her most delinquent family. I ALWAYS forget to go to the ATM before lessons. She always has to send me text to remind me. Now, all I have to do is open the app on my phone and within seconds my piano bill is taken care of. I LOVE it!!
Now I know all of you are chomping at the bit to run over to Serve to set-up your new account… but wait! One lucky WhipperBerry reader who signs up with Serve will receive $100 directly from Serve!!! You will all receive $10 just for singing up but one lucky person will receive $100! All you have to do is sign-up for a free account, there are no credit checks or anything… just a simple form to fill out. Then return to WhipperBerry and leave a comment saying that you have done so. The giveaway will be open until December 27th with the randomly selected winner announced soon there after.
You guys are going to LOVE this!

Dinner was delicious and the company was the best! Thanks for taking us, and thanks for introducing us to SERVE. It was kind of funny how, without intending to, we ended up thinking of so many ways we’ll actually use the Serve account.
