I am Brave and Beautiful – a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. My blogging friend Megan of Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they looked like without make up and I joined in!! Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “
Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.
Me along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful! You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instgram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. ALSO, if you tag it with a second hashtag – #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all!
Are you brave and beautiful? I am, here I go!
Both of these photos are “selfies” taken with my iPhone. It’s amazing what you can do even with just your phones these days. Throw on some filters and you are a whole new person. Smooth skin, eyes that pop, filters that hide everything that you find ugly. It’s the same with your make-up. I tend to hind behind my make-up. I’ve never be terribly comfortable with how I look and my make-up was my shield. A way to have a little bit of control over how I present myself out in the world. This whole idea of taking down the shield and putting everything out there has been hard and yet so good for me.
I know that deep down, I am beautiful inside and out. I know that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father who has helped me see who I am and what I can become regardless of my physical appearance. He sees behind that mask and everyday he encourages me to step out from behind those walls, to look out beyond myself, love who I am and what I am striving to become. With that comes confidence to face the world, and nothing is more beautiful than a confident woman!
Don’t stop here. Get clicking around – its a blog hop! Below are more brave and beautiful women bearing more than their natural beauty. They each have a little bit of their heart to share with you. Some get very personal. Some share stories. For some this was very hard to do yet they gathered their courage and did it anyway. We hope as you click around (and YES pin these different posts!) you will feel the importance of it, the empowering effect it has and that it encourages you in some way.

Who knew I was being brave by going make up free for years? I just figured the real me was more than the sum of my body parts. It’s actually kind of sad that so many women by into this idea that genuine beauty comes from the inside and has very little to do with the outer trappings.

WoW!!!!! How wonderful this blog is!! I am a girl without doing any make-up since I was born. (Oh well…I did make-up in the primary school for a school performance).. All my friends around me are doing make-up everyday and I nearly feel I am the abnormal one until I find this blog!! To be honest, I always feel so confused about why women have to do make-up. Wake up early to put make-up on and spend time washing it before bed. Why not just feel free about being yourself? Our life is too short to do those complex stuff. Women need to feel more confident about themselves and really enjoy a natural life.
