This week has been and odd week, I’ve been a little quiet for a number of reasons. Some of them technical, computer and site issues… Others have been this wonderful season we have to share with our family and friends at this time of year. In light of recent events here in our country in the last week or so, I’ve decided to take this time to spend with my family. I don’t want to miss any minute with my kiddos and my sweet husband at this magical time of the year. I have decided to take the next couple of weeks off while my kiddos are out of school and enjoy time with them. I will still pop in a few times with a couple of posts here and there and, I will be on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram but, for the most part I am going to be spending time with my little family.

I want to send my holiday wishes to you all, I hope you have a wonderful, magical Christmas and enjoy some time with your family and friends. If your heart is hurting or sad at this time of year I send my love and prayers that your burdens will be lifted and that happiness will find it’s way back into your life. I am so grateful for the time you spend with me each and everyday. I know that time is precious and I am so grateful that you choose to say hello and spend a few minutes with me and my crazy, creative world. I look forward to spending more time together in 2013 and can’t wait to share some fun new idea with you.
Merry Christmas and I will see you all in 2013!!
Looking for a quick last minute Christmas goodie for your friends, neighbors or teachers… Here’s a cutie last minute gift a Santa Candy Jar, that’s high on wow with Styled by Tori Spelling and yet, super easy to make!
I’m always looking for fun and easy gifts for those special people in my life and this one is too cute. Here is what you need to make this fun candy jar…
First thing you need to do is paint the lid of your jar with the Krylon Cherry Red Gloss…
I wrapped the jar in a plastic grocery sack and then screwed the lid on, right on top of the bag. It was perfect! Then I sprayed the lid with slow even strokes using my spray paint trigger. Let the lid dry for a few hours. It will be “dry” after about 10 minutes or so, but will need time to cure.
While you are waiting for the paint to dry, you can make the pom pom for the top of the lid. I used a few different types of white yarn and some Divine Twine bakers twine to tie it off for mine…
I used the handy Clover Pom-Pom maker to make the perfect pom for the top of Santa’s hat. If you haven’t used the Pom-Pom maker before you should check out this video on how to use them. They are fabulous!!
Next, I measured out my ribbon and and prepared my pendant…
If you want your pendant to lay totally flat, you will need to take some needle nose pliers and with a little muscle, break off the hook on the back of the pendant. Then use your hot glue gun to glue the ribbon onto the jar along with Santa’s belt buckle (the Styled by Tori Pendant.)
Now, all you have to do is top of the “hat” with the pom-pom. Tack it down with a little bit of hot glue and you are good to go. Fill the jar with some red candy and your Santa Candy Jar is good to go. Include a nice little note and your friends will adore you!
It’s so pretty, you may find that it stays out for display for the entire season!

Life is crazy these days! The girls are all in three different schools, with three different sets of activities. The little guy and I are ALWAYS busy working on WhipperBerry at home. By the time Mike’s home from work dinner is the last thing I want to think about. It’s always so tempting to just grab everyone and head off to one of our local restaurants, but that’s sooooo expensive. It’s fine a few times a month, but more than that the wallets really starts to feel the pinch. We MUST figure out how to make dinner fast and inexpensive at the same time… I was giving the opportunity to visit our local Sam’s Club this week to try out their Castle Wood deli section to create a sandwich for our family on the go.
Yesterday was super busy. I had a ton of work to do AND a whole bunch of Hales a.k.a. Lil’Whip friend’s were coming over after school. They all needed head shots for an audition next week for the school musical, and I offered to help them with that.
Needless to say, the schedule was tight, plus I had even more mouths to feed. I headed over to Sam’s Club and shopped for sandwich fixin’s for our crew. You can join me over at Google+ to follow along while I sign-up for a Sam’s Club membership and shop for our busy night.
Gage and I found all kinds of goodies for our busy dinner in the Castle Wood section. We finally decided on a few Castle Wood products for our sandwiches…
Then we headed home to put together our yummy dinner. Now, you may think sandwiches are boring, but they don’t have to be. I kept our sandwich simple, but it is FULL of flavor. The key is working with good, flavor packed ingredients.
I selected to use The Castle Wood Four Pepper Oven Roasted Turkey Breast along with the Castle Wood Pepper Jack. Then I paired those two stars with a fabulous supporting cast of tomatoes, cucumber and hummus… Yes, hummus! It’s a full flavor, less fat option to mayonnaise or Miracle Whip.
2 slices of bread
1-2 T hummus
1-2 oz. Castle Wood Four Pepper Oven Roasted Turkey Breast
1-2 slices of Castle Wood Pepper Jack cheese
8-10 slices of cucumber
2-4 slices of tomato
Spread hummus on bread and then layer the turkey, cheese, cucumber and tomato.
Servings // 1
This sandwich is bursting with flavor and is perfect for those meals when you would like to save on time and money. With Castle Wood Lunch Meat Sam’s Club signature brand, you can create a fabulous sandwich for $1… Yep, that’s ONE DOLLAR!! You can’t get that at your local sandwich shop. This was perfect for our busy night of photos for all the high school kiddos. I made up a bunch of sandwiches, wrapped them in parchment paper to keep them fresh and served them with sweet potato chips and a couple of cookies and they were HAPPY and I was happy that I was able to feed the crowd without breaking the budget.
The folks at Sam’s Club would love to help you Eat In a little more often with a $100 gift card. Follow the directions in the Rafflecopter box below to enter!
