I am going to take a break from my Who I Am series to promote a class I am going to be teaching in Denver this next week. The FABULOUS quilt shop Snappy Quilts has invited me to come out and teach a couple of fun classes this coming Friday the 16th! I am soooo excited to teach a class called…
Outside the Box ~ Packaging 101
I will be teaching how to take common household items like, wax paper, freezer paper, & fabric to create some stunning packages perfect for the up coming holiday season! And…
Sweater Flowers
For this class I will be teaching how to make fun sweater flowers used to embelish crafty projects, packages or even your outfit!
If you are in the Denver area and are interested in taking the classes you can email Snappy Quilts or call them 303.734.6055 to reserve your spot today!!
Now it's Party Time!!!
It’s Friday Flair… show us what you have {Whipped-Up} this week!
I'm feeling a little crazy this week and I thought I would add a little twist… I want to have a comment theme party!!! You can link whatever fits into the normal party guidelines but the comment theme party this week will be…
80's Glam Party!!
Leave a comment when you link-up with your favorite 80's band or fashion trend! How fun is this going to be?!
-
Please link up only your own projects, and link to the specific post, not your blog home page. No Etsy shops or giveaways, please.
-
-
You must grab a WhipperBerry button from the sidebar and include it somewhere in the post you’re linking, or on your home page (a text link is great too).
-
-
Stay and mingle (remember, it’s a party!), and leave a couple comments for other guests!

Let’s see…favorite 80’s fashion trend? Well, there were lots of fun ones but not sure if I would ever want to repeat them! I remember rolling and pinning my jeans, the florescence colors, large glasses and huge t-shirts with this little loop like thing that you would put the hem of your shirt through.

oops! I forgot to put my 80’s bit in, sorry!
I LOVED (and still LOVE) the iconic Aussie band Cold Chisel, fave song from them would have to be Flame Trees. If you haven’t heard of them, then you can check them out on Youtube.

Thanks for hosting! I’m exciting about your new series on decorating packages, I’m already thinking about Christmas. Eeek!
Oh and my favorite 80’s fashion trend have to be the layered scrunchy socks in neon colors of course.

Hi Heather. That class in Denver sounds so great. I hope you take some pictures. Sorry, I mucked up the links this week. I was having trouble and linked twice at # 35 and # 37 (if you could delete one please?). Thanks Heather.
My favourite memory of the 80’s was the fashion. There were no hard and fast rules. I shopped mainly at thrift stores for the pointiest shoes and the coolest 50’s dresses and lace gloves. My hair was really short on one side and long on the other. The music was great. Those were great times!

Jen @ A Heart Full of Love says
My favorite 80’s fashions were jelly shoes, leg warmers, and hypercolor shirts. And all that neon!

I love those bows and I’d love to live in Denver so I could attend your class.
I love 80’s music! The kids think I’m crazy, but that’s ok, they just don’t know good music 😉
Trish @ Uncommon says
The eighties were the best! I loved Cyndi Lauper and Madonna, of course! Desperately tried to have big bangs (no luck there), loved all things jelly and flourescent, especially my swatch watch! Good times!
Lisa @ Allergy Free Vintage Cookery says
“Come on Eileen, oh I swear, at this moment, you mean everything!” 🙂
I think I can still remember all the words to every song from the 80’s… maybe I can get rich on some game show from this hidden talent?
Great fun for a Friday morning 🙂

Okay, favorite band ever is Queen. Is that more 70s? Not sure, but I loved them in the 80s and still love them!
Jo-Anna says
I love your packaging! Wish I could be there!
Ok, so 80’s huh? I have to say I loved the music and stir-up pants! Oh, and back combed wings in my hair. Nice.
Karie @ The HoB says
Oh I had the most awesome T-Shirt dress my mom made in the 80s! It was a large white t-shirt with fabric sewed to the bottom to create the skirt. It was large polka-dot fabric and then my mom cut out some of the polka-dots and put them on the shirt and outlined them with puff paint! So 80s!!

Love your packaging ideas, Heather. If I were in Denver I’d be signing up for sure! Ummm, 80’s uh? How about feathered hair styles? Happy Friday, thanks for hosting another great party!

I only spent my first decade of life in the 80s. But I remember in elementary school, wearing two shirts, then folding up the sleeves to show the color underneath. Then coordinating our socks…Two pairs of socks, then fold them down! Fun Fun! :0) I also remember my friends and I liking New Kids on the Block…only because our older sisters and babysitters loved them. :0) Thanks for hosting!
Andrea @Oasis Accents says
Wow, so much from the ’80’s…let’s see Band – Journey, a big ole can of Aqua Net and roller skates with big pom-poms are just a little bit. But I also remember knickers, peter pan boots, gauchos and all kinds of “weird” stuff. Thanks for hosting =)
Michele @ The Scrap Shoppe says
Favorite 80’s trend was probably the knit legwarmers. I had them in ALL the colors! 🙂 Other trends I rocked were the side ponytail and the t-shirt clip. Favorite band? hmmm, probably the Eagles. I heard Seven Bridges Road on my way in to work this morning. Love the harmony!
Mary says
This is my first Friday Flair post. YAY! As for an 80″s trend…my favorite would be the leg warmers with the acid washed jeans. Oh yeah…so sexy!
Thanks for hosting such a wonderful party!
Kim says
Thank you for hosting and coming up with this fun 80’s comment idea! Let’s see, for 80’s fashion, anyone else remember Units? It was all knit fabric, even the “belts”. I still listen to 80’s music on a regular basis! That was a great decade!
Nicole Maki says
My favorite 80’s trend was fringe boots. They were so awesome!

Dude! I wish I lived in Denver. I would LOVE to come to that class. You know me and packaging. We are having a love child. Oh and my 80’s “confessions”? Poison, and those plastic charm necklaces, with a toilet hanging on them. Nice. I’m a real classy girl!

Holy Gravy! I just linked my “Name That Movie” post with references to college days that included The Violent Femmes, big hair, blue eye shadow, prep-rolled jeans and fingerless gloves!
AND, the 80’s put out some great movies, huh? Dirty Dancing, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, etc!
Thank you for hosting!

Thanks for hosting! I really liked the tight rolled jeans and the friendship pins we used to wear on our Tretorn Tennis shoes 🙂
