Crane & Canopy Review – My Designer Bedding Makeover

14 · Aug 13, 2022 · 10 Comments

I recently got Crane & Canopy bedding. I’ve always wanted some designer bedding to go with my fancy pants sleep number bed. Now, let me share with you my Crane & Canopy review.

Bedroom Makeover with Crane & Canopy

Key Takeaways

I think Crane &Canopy makes great bedding but it’s expensive! Below are my key takeaways if you’re short on time.

  • Great Comforter
  • Perfect weight
  • Fluffy
  • Great features
  • BUT IT IS EXPENSIVE!

If $200+ is too expensive for bedding for you, then I have a great alternative for you that I’ve tried since writing this Crane & Canopy review years ago. The bedding is practically the same quality but for about half the cost.

Check out the Crane & Canopy Bedding alternative below:

My Crane & Canopy Story & Review

I LOVE my bed. I know most of us do… but I REALLY LOVE my bed! As much as I love to travel, there is nothing like coming home to my own bed. If you have the right bed, (which I do… it’s a Sleep Number bed) it fits you like a glove and gently soothes you into a deep sleep. As a girl, I used to daydream about my bed (yea, I told you I love my bed). To me, the only way to go is a bed not unlike what you would find in a Swiss chalet (at least the Swiss chalet in my imagination, I’ve never really stayed in said chalet.)

  • Crisp & white.
  • White duvet, filled with a heavenly down comforter.
  • Crisp white sheets & lots and lots of white pillows.

It would be a perfect little white nest. I can just imagine coming home from a day of skiing out in the powdery Swiss snow and jumping into my plush white cloud, snuggling under the covers with my sweetie, and reading a good book… among other things (blush). Really, that was my dream Honeymoon for years… Instead, we went to Vegas. Yea, didn’t really hit the mark on that one.

Not to worry, minus the Swiss Alps and the skiing, I can still have my dream bed!!

For years I have searched for bedding that was just right. I’ve made due for many years because I wanted a certain quality that was just out of my price range. I could have gone to any big box store and purchased the same type of bedding, pretending that I really had the bedding of my dreams. In reality I would have a cheap impostor. The fabric would be rough and the fill would be clumpy and weak. It just wasn’t what I was looking for.

Not too long ago, the folks at Crane & Canopy introduced me to their innovative line of luxury bedding. After a few weeks of taking it for a test drive, I can safely say… From now on, Crane & Canopy is going to be my one-stop shop for affordable designer bedding!

I selected the bedding that was as close to a cloud as I could possibly find… The Valencia White Pintuck Duvet Set.

Crane & Canopy Bedding on WhipperBerry

There are surely some negative reviews about Crane and Canopy online but I really don’t understand them. When you’re sleeping in the clouds like this, what’s not to love?

Now, this bedding has a ton of features that you won’t find at your typical big box store.

Crane & Canopy Bedding

  • 400 thread count
  • 100% cotton sateen
  • The pintucks are sewn to perfection and will not come unpinned even when washing.
  • The duvet cover  has a hidden pocket zipper which makes it so much easier to use. No more clunky button closures.
  • Interior corner ribbons to tie down the insert… this my friends is aaaaamazing!!  For YEARS my husband and I have dealt with our down comforter shifting all over the place and creating all kinds of havoc on our bed. If you have a duvet, you know exactly what I am talking about. These corner ties are genius!

Crane & Canopy Duvet Ties

All you have to do is turn the duvet inside out and tie the top two corners. Then turn it right side out, pull the duvet down, tie the bottom two corners then zip up the bottom… It’s PERFECT!

The alternative bedding I suggested at the beginning of this review also has these features. You can check it out here:

I decided that with the new bedding I needed to give our room a little makeover at the same time. I created some custom wall art with some amazing new products from DecoArt. I will be showing off this fun new technique in a few weeks on the DecoArt Blog.  Then, I added a few fun new accessories from my favorite shop… Target!

The bench is part of the fabulous Threshold collection, along with the accent tables. Both lamps are from Target as well. The one on the right I’ve had for awhile and they no longer carry it. The one on the right is a fabulous Architect Desk Lamp that I just love. The books are from Anthropologie. I actually took the color scheme for the makeover from the cover of Anthro’s Pride & Prejudice.

Pride and Prejudice

Just because I want to sleep in a cloud doesn’t mean that the whole room needs to be devoid of color. All in all, I adore my new room. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new bedding from Crane & Canopy. My husband and I just celebrated 13 years together last week, and I can finally say… I have my dream bed!

Crane & Canopy Bedroom Makeover on WhipperBerry

Where is Crane & Canopy Made?

Crane & Canopy is designed in San Francisco, CA.  Then the bedding is manufactured in Oeko-Tex factories. These are the highest standard of factories that exist for bedding products. These certified factories are located all across the world in many different countries and likely help with distribution.

Crane & Canopy Bedding Features

I covered some of the features above in my rambling but I will list out some of the amazing features below.

  • Highest quality cotton
  • High thread counts
  • Zipper enclosure at bottom of the duvet cover.
  • Interior corner ties to keep your comforter in place.

The other alternative has very similar features but for half the cost.

Is Crane & Canopy Bedding Worth The Cost?

If you can’t tell by now, I love my Crane & Canopy bedding and Duvet. It’s designer, it’s fluffy, and it’s amazing overall. The main question you probably have is if it’s worth the cost. After all, it is a bit expensive and there are some bad Crane & Canopy reviews out there online. In my humble opinion, it’s 100% worth it but you can also get something similar for half the price. You sleep in your bed every night. If there’s one thing you should spend a bit of extra money on it’s a comfy and fluffy bed. You’ll get a better night’s sleep and wake up thinking you’re in a chalet.

What’s your dream bed? Do you have it yet? If not, I highly recommend you head over to Crane & Canopy and check out their entire line of designer bedding. Tell them WhipperBerry sent ya! However, if that’s too expensive you can get an alternative here:

Stylish Organization Ideas for my “Office”

My kitchen has always been my office… It’s where I work my magic. It’s my photo studio, my creative space, my office, where I entertain and where I feed my family. Therefore, the way I use to organize my tools of the trade needs to be tidy, portable & stylish.  Here is a video that I put together to show you how I create the perfect little space to organize all of my odds & ends.

I thought it turned out super cute! Ok, stylish… not just cute. Creating a station that is super functional was very important to me. A place that doesn’t just get cluttered-up and then written off as another messy place to have to clean and ORGANIZE. I love that when I’m wanting to entertain, these four Lexington carts can be rolled into the laundry room and then my kitchen is nice and tidy for our guests. Here’s what you’ll need to create your stylish organization station.

  • Enamel Tabletop Magazine Organizer
  • Small galvanized tabletop box
  • Large galvanized tabletop box
  • Lexington Cart – black
  • Lexington Cart topper – white
  • Cricut Explore Air 2 – Sunflower
  • Premium Vinyl – permanent- White & Black
  • White cardstock
  • Cricut pens – black
  • WhipperBerry Cricut cut files

This project is super easy, if you watch the video it will show you exactly how to create a space like this for yourself. Plus, as an added bonus, I’m sharing my Cricut Design Space files that are fully editable so you can create the exact same look for your space. Here are some tips on how to apply vinyl if you’re new to vinyl.  The rest is super easy!

DIY Farmhouse Tiered Bowls

6 · Jan 22, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Normally a costly buy, these farmhouse tiered bowls are a stylish storage option for either the kitchen, office or craft room. Rather than breaking the bank, you can grab a few items at Michaels to make one of your own.

I will fully admit, I love the farmhouse trend. I’ve slowly been gathering home decor pieces that help to transform my spaces into cute little farmhouse nooks.

One piece that everyone loves right now is tiered trays or tiered bowls, you see them everywhere. I’ve looked and sometimes these gems have a hefty price tag which stinks because they are great for organizing in the home. They are handy in the office to organize office supplies, pens, pencils, scissors. You can even add in some decor to dress up your office. The same is true for the craft room. Tiered bowls are great for story craft supplies; paints, brushes, markers, your Cricut tools and so much more. In the kitchen they are super handy as well. You can use them to keep healthy fruits and vegetables on the counter so that your kiddos reach for the healthy snacks that are close at hand.In need of a set of tiered bowls for the kitchen, I thought rather than purchasing one, maybe I could make one of my own.

Of course, I ran over to Michaels to see what I could find. Their isles are packed full of great storage and organization goodies this time of year. Well, all year, but this time of year especially. The cool thing about looking for storage solutions at Michaels, you can think “outside of the box” and CREATE your own storage solution from the isles there.

DIY Farmhouse Tiered Bowls Supplies

Rustic clay pots have always been a favorite of mine. I found these beautiful clay pots in the floral section at Michaels. They have that farmhouse or even old world look that I just love and, they are large… Perfect for tiered bowls.

• large clay pots in the floral section at Michaels (I would provide a link however, they aren’t listed online yet)

• ArtMinds™ Wood Decorative Candle Holder, 6 3/4″

• Wood Doll Head by ArtMinds®, 2.5″

• E6000® Permanent Craft Adhesive, 2.0 oz.

• Americana® Decor™ Chalky Finish Paint, 8oz. – white

Instructions

Now, this part couldn’t get any easier. To begin, I painted the candle stick with a light coat of the chalky finish paint.

That will dry in just a few minutes. While you’re waiting for that to dry, check the center point of your bowls. The bowl on that will be on the bottom may need to be sanded down a bit in order for your candle holder to sit straight.

Once your candle holder is dry, add your E-600 to the top and follow the package directions for adhering it to the center of the clay pot. Keep in mind, you’re going to glue the TOP of the candle holder to the bottom bowl so that the the wider BOTTOM of the candle holder will hold-up the top bowl.

I placed a paper towel underneath to protect my surface from any glue drips. Once that is nice and secure, you can glue the wood feet i.e. doll heads, to the bottom of the bowl again, with the E-6000.

Let those cure according to package directions and then do the same with the top bowl.

Once that has properly cured, you’re all finished! You now have farmhouse tiered bowls!

I’m using mine to hold fruit in my kitchen. It fits perfect on my counter tops right under my cabinets.

I love the look of these pots so much, I stocked up on some smaller ones for all of my plants this spring.

How to Paint Buffalo Check Jars

3 · Dec 5, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Love the Buffalo Check trend? Yep, me too! I thought it would be fun to use some of the Ball® Sharing Jars to create some Buffalo Check Jars to use as gifts this Holiday Season. Here’s how you can make some of your own.

Love the Buffalo Check trend? Yep, me too! I thought it would be fun to use some of the Ball® Giving Jars to create some Buffalo Check Jars to use as gifts this Holiday Season. Here's how you can make some of your own.

Ball® Sharing Jars

This project looks a bit challenging, but truly it’s not! All you need are some of those fabulous Ball® Sharing Jars and some paint and you can create this trendy look for yourself.

I love the shape of the Sharing Jars and I love the mission. When you purchase the Sharing Jars your purchase will benefit Feeding America® – the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. For every package of Sharing Jars purchased, Newell Brands will donate 4 meals*! I LOVE it when I can help support a worthy cause when buying stuff I would normally buy any way.

* Newell Brands® will donate $0.36 per package of Sharing Jars sold, up to $150,000 provided to Feeding America®.  $1 helps provide 11 meals secured by Feeding America® on behalf of local member food banks.

Buffalo Check Jars

I’m a huge fan of the Buffalo Check trend and can’t get enough of it right now. Pretty much everyone I know feels the same way so, I thought a stylish Buffalo Check Jar would be the perfect gift for friends and family for Christmas this year. I’ve filled them with all kinds of stuff; candy, bath scrubs, shower bombs, soup starters, cookie kits, all kinds of stuff. Of course after the jars are painted, you can no longer preserve in them but, they’re great for everything else. Here’s how to make them.

Materials

  • Ball® Sharing Jars
  • Americana Decor Chalky Paint in Everlasting, Yesteryear & Carbon
  • sponge paint brush
  • 1/4″ flat head paint brush
  • 240 grit sandpaper
  • Americana Decor Clear Crème Wax
  • lint free cloth

Instructions

To begin, make sure you have washed and dried your jars. Then paint a couple of layers of the white (Everlasting) chalky paint onto the jar with the sponge brush. You can use your favorite kind of chalk paint here.

Don’t worry about brush strokes, they will get smoothed out in the finishing process at the end. Let dry, ideally for a few hours or overnight.

Next, you’ll use the 1/4″ flat paint brush to paint the gray (Yesteryear) stripes onto the jar.

You will loosely use the lines on the jars as guides. I really didn’t want a precise looking check wanting it to look more free form or hand painted. I didn’t want this project to become to crazy with measuring every little detail and taping the jar to get perfect lines. This to me makes the project so much more enjoyable and I love the look.

Start at the top points of the lines in the Sharing Jar and use your 1/4 inch brush line to create the stripes. Three stripes around the jar and then a vertical stripe in the center of the flat sections of the sharing jar. Let dry completely.

Now, you’ll use the black (Carbon) paint to paint on the black section of the check in the intersections of the gray stripes. Again, let paint dry completely. It would be best at this stage to let the paint cure overnight. It will help the paint adhere to the glass much better.

Once the paint is dry, you will use the sand paper to smooth and distress the paint. Be careful not to attach the jar with a little too much vigor. You don’t want to sand the paint right off the jar. Using a soft hand, smooth the dry paint, (this will remove the brush strokes) and then carefully distress the high points of the jar.

Once this step is complete, you’ll want to wipe down the jars with a damp cloth to remove any of the remaining dust. Then you’ll use your lint free cloth to wipe on some of the wax to seal the paint onto the jar. Use the lint free cloth to then wipe off any excess wax and buff the wax.

Now, you’re finished! You have the cutest Buffalo Check Jars ready to fill with whatever you like.

I created a fun Holiday Survival Kit and filled the jars with a homemade sugar scrub, some shower bombs and included a Yankee Candle® along with the cutest little match jar ever… You’ll have to check it out. It even comes with free printable gift tags.
