Antique Farmhouse Floor Lamps Review // Lamps.com Pin to Win GIVEAWAY

8 · Aug 29, 2013 · 22 Comments

This floor lamps reveiw / giveaway post brought to you by Lamps.com // When it comes to decorating, I am all about the statement piece. Building a room is much like building a good wardrobe. When filling your closet, it’s good to invest in some quality staple pieces like a classic white shirt, fabulous jeans, classic boots. Items that are timeless and will also stand the test of time. Then once you have a good selection of these classic items, then you add in the fun trendy stuff. These items you don’t need to invest a whole lot in because they are in one season and then out the next. They same goes for dressing your home. Let’s face it, our tastes change… Well, I know mine does!

When designing a room, it’s also a good idea to invest in good quality anchor pieces that are classic and will look fabulous for years and then accessorize with the fun colors and other trendier items. Sofas, tables, large pieces & lamps are all the types of items that you want to invest in timeless quality. I’ve been recently introduced to Lamps.com and I am thrilled with their selection most definitely their quality.

WhipperBerry's Antique Farmhouse Brass Floor Lamp

Lamps.com contacted a little while ago to see if I would be interested in reviewing one of their lamps and for sure, I jump at the chance. I knew that they are known for their huge selection, quality merchandise & excellent service so why not take one of their lamps for a test drive.

Let’s talk about their selection… aaaaamazing! Seriously, you can find any type of lamp that you are looking for at almost any price point. They have lamps under a $100 and then they have some stunning chandeliers that would knock your socks off and almost anything in between. I selected this beautiful Antique Farmhouse Brass Floor lamp to dress up my living room here at the new house. When it arrived I was blown away by the quality of this lamp. I haven’t ever been skimpy when purchasing lamps. Like I said before, quality lamps are an investment and should last a lifetime. I’ve bought my current lamps from Pottery Barn and they are great, but this farmhouse lamp from Lamps.com blows them out of the water.

Spring Wreath DIY // Vintage Vignette // Whatever Craft Weekend Part II

3 · May 2, 2013 · 12 Comments

Spring Wreath DIY // WOWZA that's quite a bit to have all in one post!! I have been working on my Spring Vignette for a little bit. Gathering treasures and such, tweaking and rearranging. I finally have a fun grouping to share with you today that's inspired by my Whatever Craft Weekend. Of course it starts with my Winter White Wreath that I will be using all year. I've used it for Christmas, The New Year, Valentine's Day and now I've updated it for Spring!

Spring Wreath from WhipperBerry

All I did was add some fancy yarn and a fabric banner to the wreath. The fabric garland was made by my friend Amy from Ameroonie Designs. I had been trying to find time to put together a fabric garland for the wreath and just hadn't found the time. Luckily, Amy was handing little fabric garlands out to her customers at the Queen Bee Market last month at SNAP and I was sooooo excited… I didn't have to worry about that element anymore! Not that they are hard to make, the issue for me would be to find my sewing machine in the sea of boxes still in my garage. We are in a temporary home right now, so there is no need to unpack everything. Thanks Amy for the rescue!!

Now, for the full vignette. It was inspired by my Whatever Craft Weekend… Yes, I will be trying to live in that fabulous weekend for the rest of my life I think. Almost everything in the display came from that magical weekend…

Isn't it cheerful and fun?! Part of the Whatever Craft Weekend is a fun Junking trip. Meg & Kimberlee have some amazing treasure troves that they share with all of their guest and I had a ball finding all kinds of goodies.

Lunch at the barn Whatever Craft Weekend

Here are Ashley, Mique, Kristi, Pam and several other friends on our junking tour, Kristi is going ga gah over all the amazing wood available at this amazing junk barn!

I curated a group of fun smaller items like these…

WhipperBerry typewriter

Many of these goodies made it into my vignette… and, I even found a large item that I am head over heels in love with.

Check out that lovely, chippy bench that Ashley is testing out… yep, it came home with me!! Several friends found some amazing quilts in our antique tour. All of them just divine. I'm not sure if there is anything more fun than junking with several fun friends!

Back to my Whatever Vignette… Here are some of my little elements…

Vintage Typewriter with sign from Katy Girl Design

This typewriter was one of my favorite finds… it was only $30, a total deal! I've paired it with my sign from Katy Girl Designs. You have to run over and check out Katy's shop. Its lovely!!

Vintage Canon Camera

Next, I have a fun biscuit tin as a base for my vintage fan and Canon camera. The camera belonged to my Grandfather and I love having it out on display. It reminds me of his curiosity and love of life and it makes me happy to see it sitting there all day.

antique glass with felted foxes felt balls

I have always been in love with felted balls and have made many projects with them, but I was dying when we opened a whole package from FeltedFoxes during our craft time at Meg's.  I've made felt balls… I even have a tutorial on how to make them. They aren't easy and take quite a bit of time and effort to  make. I think I will just order them from now on from FeltedFoxes and save the time and effort! I love how they look in my emerald Depression Glass… just stunning!

Create sign from Little Branches

I LOVE my new Little Branches CREATE sign. It's just so perfect for my house. I love the colors and the gold accents! It's just so cheery!

Vintage Kodak Camera

I used  fabric in old embroidery hoops to add color and texture to the display and peppered in more cameras from my vintage camera collection.   I'm just so in love with this display. It may stay up for a few months while I soak in all the vintage goodness!

Gold Accented Bowl Refashion // Project ReLove

2 · Apr 13, 2013 · 1 Comment

Gold Accented Bowl Refashion // We all have them… Little spots in our garages and basements with little odds and ends that used to be treasures, but have since lost their flair. Whether they are old and out of date, or just need a little sprucing up… These goodies still have a place!! When my friends at Michaels craft stores contacted me about Project ReLove I easily jumped onboard. Project ReLove is in honor of Earth Day and a fabulous movement to inspire all of us to create something new, out of something we already have. No need to run out and find new supplies, just go shopping in your lost treasures. You'll be amazed what a little paint, glue, Mod Podge or a little bling can do for an tired old treasure.

I went shopping in my garage and found an old wood bowl that I bought a while ago and thought I could breath new life into with a little gold paint.

Gold Accented Bowl

The other day I was shopping at Target and found this amazing gold accented bowl in the Nate Berkas collection…

14316920_130119055414I knew with a little gold spray paint from Krylon I could transform my old wood bowl into somthing like Nate's creation. All I needed was the spray paint, some painters tape and some plastic wrap and I was in business…

spray paint supplies

I taped off the sections that I didn't want to paint. Make sure you watch your lines to make sure that's the way you want your final piece to look. Sometimes you need to tape in small sections in order to achieve the desired look. I then carefully painted the bowl with slow even movements to create a smooth unblemished surface. Two coats of paint was perfect…

Mask the part of the bowl you don't want to paint with painters tape

Once the paint dried, I removed the tape, the plastic wrap and voila, I now have a perfect new accent piece for a new display I'm working on. I just LOVE it!!

So, what do you have that you can repurpose or refashion? What's living in the deep dark corners of your garage that can become something fabulous again? You can join Michaels for Project ReLove too!

Cute Little Spooky Spiders for Halloween Decor

52 · Oct 29, 2012 · 9 Comments

Looking for a fun, last minute Halloween idea? Need something simple that takes less than a minute to make? How about a cute little spooky spider to add to your Halloween décor…

spooky spiders copy

For a few years I’ve seen those metal spider leg cupcake holders that you use to add a little creepy crawly to your Halloween cupcakes and thought… It would be so fun to make something with those cute legs rather than just a cupcake.  Then it hit me… why not take a black Christmas ornament, turn it upside down onto the legs and add some googlie eyes. How cute will that be. Here’s what you will need…

supplies for a spooky spider

  • Black Christmas ornaments (I used the glitter kind, but it doesn’t matter)
  • Spider cupcake holders
  • Large self-adhesive google eyes

All you have to do in invert the Christmas ornament onto the cupcake holder like this…

No need to glue them together if you don’t want.  I decided that I wanted to keep my options open, so I didn’t glue them together. I have commitment issues. Then you can place the eyes wherever you see fit and voila, your done!  Now all you have to do is find some fun spots to place these cute little creepy crawlies.

I used mine in this year’s Halloween mantle and just fell in love with these little buggers. Take that… a Halloween craft in less than a minute! What’s your favorite quickie holiday craft?
