I'm not sure if you have seen… Martha Stewart has launched a new line of all-purpose paint and craft supplies at Michael's this month. I was lucky enough to have a chance to take some of the products for a test drive a few weeks ago and I have to say… so in LOVE! First of all, the paint can paint on any surface, glass, metal, fabric, wood, you name it it works on it. It can even go in the dishwasher!! Even better than that… there are 160 colors to choose from!!
Along with the fun paint there is a whole new line of tools to use as well…
Several different types of finishes and mediums to work with and even a sprayer to transform your favorite color into spray paint!
When I was in Utah a couple of weeks ago I bought this fantastic tray from Ikea that I knew would be a perfect project to test out Martha's new paints.
The tray is metal so it would be perfect for a magnetic memo board for my daughter's room. Yesterday was her birthday and it's the perfect gift for a new high school freshman.
I decided to stencil it with one of Martha's fabulous stencil packs using the handy paint roller attachment that attaches directly onto the paint bottle.
I also jazzed up some magnets for the board with a little glitter paint from the Martha Stewart line using the fabulous fine tip paint applicator…
Then I added a large red bow at the top to hang from a decorative knob in her room and simple as that… I've transformed a fun tray into a fabulous magnet memo board!
{Quiz for the day… Who's the cute blond in the picture with me on the memo board? I bet you know her!!!}
Bottom line is… I have LOVED working with Martha Stewart Crafts Decorative Paint Line by Plaid. These are two companies that truly know how to create a superior product. As a matter of fact I have a few more projects in the works because I love it that much!
Here are some other projects from some talented bloggers as well to wet your appetite even further {click on the images to visit their blogs.}

It looks fantastic and I have an IKEA nearby! Great idea! Couple of questions though… Did you just tape on the stencil? I’ve heard that sometimes paint leaks underneath stencils so I was wondering if there was some trick or if it was really that easy!
Second question: Did you cut the stencil to fit some of the tighter areas? Thanks!
Great post!
Heather says
Thanks so much! Those are great questions. Yes I did cut the stencil to fit into the smaller areas and found that it worked nicely that way. As for the paint bleeding problem… I used tape for this project and did have a bit of an issue at the beginning, but as long as I didn’t use too much paint it was fine. But, you can spray your stencil with a light adhesive spray to avoid that problem. It a great trick and works great. I didn’t have any on hand so I used the tape method.

I thought I had read somewhere that there was a starter kit from Martha for ppl like me that are wanna be’s. Do you know if there is something like that. I did not see it on the link site.
Heather says
Celia, you know I’m not sure. I know that you can buy paint in a special kit, but I’m not sure if they have a tool and paint starter kit. Check out your local Michaels store or online. That may be a little more helpful. Happy painting!!

Do you know if you can bake these paints for glass? I recently painted a wine glass as a gift and i am supposed to bake it but i am unsure of the temperature and time at which i should bake it.
