Halloween Décor with Mod Podge

2 · Sep 23, 2012 · 14 Comments

I have never been a huge Halloween girl… Until this year! I am having so much fun coming up with some great projects to create for around the house!! With the move in full swing this project tested my crafting muscles and I have to say… I have fallen in LOVE with Mod Podge and their whole line of great products all over again!

Bewitching Halloween

With the process of moving, many of my favorite craft supplies have already been packed, but I learned a great lesson… you don’t need much to create some fun projects. Here’s my list of supplies…

mod podge

  • 2 plates
  • 1 mason jar lid
  • Basic printer paper
  • Antique Matte Mod Podge
  • Sparkle Mod Podge
  • Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
  • Halloween Chevron Mini Wooden Spoons from The TomKat Studio
  • Insta Spooky Kit digital design kit from Rhonna Designs

For each of the three elements I printed the designs from the Insta Spooky Kit at Rhonna Designs on your plain old printer paper making sure they were sized just right for my plates and jar lid. What I love about he Antique Matte Mod Podge, is that it took the harsh white printer paper and created this lovely antique look.

I cut each image out and then spread a thin layer of the Antique Matte Mod Podge directly onto the plate or lid and then placed the paper onto the plate.  Making sure the image was placed correctly on the plate. Then I brushed another thin layer of the Mod Podge on top of the image and let dry. On the small white plate I added a layer of Sparkle Mod Podge to dress it up a bit.

Once the plate and lid were dry, I carefully added some Dimensional Magic to the Spooky image and the moon on the large plate.  This give the image a little pizzazz!!

Once everything was dry, I hot glued 5 of the spoon handles onto the back of the lid and then hot glued the lid to the small plate. That was it!! Super easy and it looks soooooo cute!! They are BEWITCHING, wouldn’t you say?

What’s your favorite Mod Podge product?  Are you planning on creating some fun Halloween décor this year? Come share, I would love to hear about what you’re working on!!

I love this post! It looks so easy and yet they look AWESOME! Halloween is my favorite time of year but this year I’m all packed up to move (Moving October 25) so I have no decorations out and most of my craft stuff is knitting related. But this is inspiring me to get some stuff out! Maybe I’ll knit a halloween scarf 🙂

Very cute, I had to do a double take on the antique mod podge, no way. And it looks hard but easy. Thanks for sharing, God bless.
