I Am Brave and Beautiful

0 · Sep 29, 2014 · 22 Comments

I am Brave and Beautiful – a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. My blogging friend Megan of Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they looked like without make up and I joined in!! Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “

Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.

Me along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful! You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instgram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. ALSO, if you tag it with a second hashtag – #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all!

Are you brave and beautiful? I am, here I go!

Brave-and-Beautiful

Both of these photos are “selfies” taken with my iPhone. It’s amazing what you can do even with just your phones these days. Throw on some filters and you are a whole new person. Smooth skin, eyes that pop, filters that hide everything that you find ugly. It’s the same with your make-up. I tend to hind behind my make-up. I’ve never be terribly comfortable with how I look and my make-up was my shield. A way to have a little bit of control over how I present myself out in the world. This whole idea of taking down the shield and putting everything out there has been hard and yet so good for me.

I know that deep down, I am beautiful inside and out. I know that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father who has helped me see who I am and what I can become regardless of my physical appearance. He sees behind that mask and everyday he encourages me to step out from behind those walls, to look out beyond myself, love who I am and what I am striving to become.  With that comes confidence to face the world, and nothing is more beautiful than a confident woman!

share your natrual beauty - brassyapple.com

Don’t stop here. Get clicking around – its a blog hop! Below are more brave and beautiful women bearing more than their natural beauty. They each have a little bit of their heart to share with you. Some get very personal. Some share stories. For some this was very hard to do yet they gathered their courage and did it anyway. We hope as you click around (and YES pin these different posts!) you will feel the importance of it, the empowering effect it has and that it encourages you in some way.

Target Cartwheel

0 · Sep 23, 2014 ·

It’s no secret that I have a long time crush with Target. It started when I was a little girl, I still remember shopping trips with my Mom that just made my heart sing. When I was about 7 or 8 I remember a purple coat that I found at Target that I thought was the coolest coat I had ever seen. My Mom made my dreams come true and bought the coat as a Christmas present. I thought I was the coolest kid on the block. I think that shopping trip was the beginning of my long time crush! It’s crazy to think how the world has changed since then, shopping isn’t just shopping any more. It’s a full interactive experience that has empowered us as consumers to participate even more in the shopping experience at Target. For example, have you used Target’s new Cartwheel app?

I love Target Cartwheel

I will have to admit that I was a little slow in adopting the new app. I just wanted to go shopping and I didn’t really have time to play around with an app. Boy was I wrong!

My daughter Haley started her first job this summer and it was a no brainer to apply for a job at our favorite store! She had a ball working at Target! She was constantly coming home asking, “have you seen what’s on Cartwheel this week?” “Mom! All of the kids clothes are 30% off on Cartwheel right now!” or, “Mom, did you know that you can just scan an item and the app will tell you if there is a deal or not?” She was constantly telling me all kinds of Target Cartwheel gems. Of course I had to investigate further.

If you aren’t familiar with Cartwheel, it’s an app that is available for iOS or Android users. It’s packed full of fantastic deals on everything from food, household supplies, clothing, toys, electronics… The list goes on an on. These are deals that are only found in Cartwheel and they can be stacked on top of other coupons or store deals. It’s so cool! For example, a few months ago, Target has these super cute folding chairs that were on sale in the Target circular one week. The price was already reduced but… They also had an additional percentage off within the Cartwheel app. Total score!! I ended up getting 4 chairs for a really good price.

The app is so easy to use. You can either scroll through the deals by department or even by what’s trending or you can just scan an item and see if there are any available deals.

scan products with Target Cartwheel

Once you find an item that you would like to add to your list, you click on the item and you can add it to your item list.

Click Add to add the item to your cart

You can add up to 14 items to your list at one time. You can even earn more spots by sharing your deals on social media.

I decided I wanted to grab some new storage baskets, they are on sale for 15% off.

WhipperBerry-Shopping-at-Target

I grabbed my basket and then headed to checkout. When I am checking out, I show my special bar code to the cashier and magically the savings just stack-up.

Target Cartwheel

It’s as easy as that. Cartwheel even keeps track of your savings. So far I’ve saved $42.20 and quite frankly, every penny counts. I just love cartwheel!! It’s so easy to use and I always feel like they are extra special deals just for me. Have you used Cartwheel? What are your favorite Cartwheel features?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Target. The opinions and text are all mine.
