The party bunch link party // Happy FRIDAY ya'll! I hope everyone is staying safe and warm these days. My sister and I worked on my new studio space this week and I finally feel like I have room to breathe! In our new house I had a room that I had designated as my studio in the basement but I just hadn't taken any time to set it up. Luckily my sister took it upon herself to get the ball rolling. Until she got involved it looked like a room that belonged on a craft hoarding intervention show. Yep… that bad! Now it looks cute and is super functional! I can't wait to start creating now that I have me creative mojo back thanks to my sister!!

Trendy Black & White Valentines Day Printables FREE

I love dressing up for the holidays, but I don't like to go over the top. Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that sometimes can get a little too pink and frilly for me. Some years I'm totally into it, other's I'm not. It just depends on the year.

This year I'm into it, but I was wanting some decor that had some class, maybe a little edge to it… Not so sappy sweet. I decided that creating some printable art work was the ticket and with a few other added elements could create a fun Valentine's Day display…

I'm LOVING the black & white trend these days, especially the black & white stripes. I thought it could be a stylish backdrop to some fun love notes to display. I printed them and put them in some $3.99 frames from Target (they don't seem to have them online, but… I promise they are in the store) and then went to work creating a display to fit the mood.

I wrapped a wire floral wreath in yarn and dressed it up with some fun decorative tacks that I found at Hobby Lobby. PERFECT!! I added a smaller heart print in a decorative Nate Berkus frame from Target and it looked wonderful!

I took my favorite deer silhouette and antler candle sticks and wrapped them with yarn as well.

That added a little spunk and tied the whole display together. Then I printed a fun TRUE LOVE black & white printable banner to dress-up the mantle…

It turned out so cute! I just love the simple, understated polka dots with the bold stripes!

Baked Sriracha Wings

Wings are pretty much one of my favorite foods on the planet, so the Superbowl, which basically screams for wings is prrreetttyy much one of my favorite days of the year. I’m a 49ers girl, born and raised, so this year’s game is a little depressing at our house.

I found this recipe in our local newspaper a couple of years ago with the title “Best Buffalo Wings,” and since they were made with Sriracha (is there anything that Sriracha doesn’t make better?) I decided we’d give it a try. They really are THE BEST wings! We make them any chance we get!

I’m a baked, not fried, gal when it comes to wings. I use (or I should say, my husband uses–he’s the one that always cooks these) Alton Brown’s recipe for Baked Chicken Wings, with a few slight variations. These come out crispy, just like a fried wing, but with less fat (because it drips off) and minus all of that mess from frying. Keep in mind, I’m not calling these low fat, they’re still wings, but it’s less than the fried deal for sure.

Baked Sriracha Wings

Recipe type: Starters

Serves: 6

Ingredients

3 lbs chicken wings & drums thawed
4 TBSP Sriracha
2 TBSP butter
2 TBSP finely chopped cilantro + extra for garnish
4 TBSP salt
2 TBSP honey
1 TBSP reduced sodium soy sauce

Instructions

Place a 6 quart saucepan with a steamer basket and 3 inches of water in the bottom, over high heat, cover and bring to a boil.
Place wings in steamer basket, cover, reduce heat to medium and let steam for about 15 minutes or until wings are completely cooked. (Wings can go in frozen, but will need to steam longer to cook.)
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter and whisk in Sriracha, salt, honey, soy sauce and cilantro. Check heat level of the sauce. If it's too spicy, add honey. Keep sauce warm over low heat until ready to pour over wings.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Remove wings from the basket lay wings out on a greased cooling rack, placed on a baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to an hour), until wings are cool and dry.
Remove wings from refrigerator and place in the oven (still on cooling rack/cookie sheet) and bake for approximately 10 minutes–until crispy.
Remove wings from the oven, toss in sauce and garnish with cilantro.
