0 · Aug 19, 2025 · Leave a Comment

Telluride had been on my travel list for years. When we finally visited, it was even better than I imagined. This small mountain town in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains is full of beauty, adventure, and charm every season.

Nestled deep in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, this charming little town is packed with adventure, beauty, and cozy charm all year long.

Whether you’re planning a family vacation, a couples getaway, or just want to enjoy the fresh mountain air, Telluride has something for everyone—hiking trails, a scenic gondola, world-class skiing, and festivals all year long.

Here are some of the best things to do in Telluride year-round, from hiking trails to ski slopes and everything in between.

Explore the Great Outdoors

Telluride is surrounded by some of the most stunning mountain scenery in Colorado. In summer, it’s perfect for hiking and biking. There are trails for every level, from easy walks to tough climbs. One of the most popular is the hike to Bridal Veil Falls—the tallest free-falling waterfall in the state.

In winter, the mountains turn into a snowy playground. Telluride is famous for its ski resort, with runs for both beginners and experts. If you prefer something quieter, you can explore the backcountry on snowshoes or go cross-country skiing through peaceful, snow-covered forests.

Indulge in Telluride’s Culinary Scene

Though small, Telluride has a big food scene. The town boasts an impressive array of restaurants, cafes, and bars that cater to every taste and budget. You’ll find everything from casual eats to upscale dining.

Try a slice at Brown Dog Pizza, known for its Detroit-style pies. For something more refined, head to Cosmopolitan or 221 South Oak, where menus highlight local ingredients.

Many spots serve Colorado craft beers and seasonal dishes, giving you a real taste of the region. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a long meal, there’s plenty to enjoy.

Attend a Festival or Event

Telluride keeps the fun going year-round with festivals that bring music, art, and culture to the mountains. In summer, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival draws fans from all over. You can also catch the Jazz Festival, the Film Festival, and Blues & Brews—each offering a unique vibe and stunning outdoor settings.

In winter, the excitement continues. The Telluride Fire Festival lights up the snowy nights with fire art and performances. The Comedy Festival brings big laughs with top comedians from across the country.

Discover Telluride’s Rich History

Telluride has a fascinating history that dates back to the late 1800s when it was a thriving mining town. Today, visitors can explore this rich past by visiting the Telluride Historical Museum, which offers exhibits on the town’s mining heritage, ski history, and more.

Take a stroll through the charming downtown area, where you’ll find beautifully preserved Victorian-era buildings and historic landmarks. Don’t miss the chance to ride the free Gondola, which connects Telluride with the nearby Mountain Village, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks along the way.

Unwind in Luxury

For those seeking a more luxurious experience, consider staying in one of the many Telluride Mountain Village rentals. These high-end accommodations offer the perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience, with easy access to all the best that Telluride has to offer.
