Swap a Smile {Giveback Event}

600 wide banner

We as women and mothers delight in the joy of raising our families despite some of the frustrations and effort it takes.  We delight in hearing and seeing our children grow and learn, and we strive to put their needs before our own.  Their heartaches are OUR heartaches and their joy is OUR joy.  So imagine if you had a child who was beautiful and happy in everyway…but who did not have a beautiful outer physical smile to match the beauty of their inner smile?

Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can’t afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life.  Whereas, most of us are blessed to be living in Nations and countries where we have access to basic services and healthcare for our families which is there to help us help our children to lead healthy and normal lives.

We feel that women everywhere have the same basic tendencies to nurture and care for their families and feel that automatically connects us as social beings.  A group of us wanted to be able to use this crafting/DIY community and find some way to give back to others, to be involved in something that was bigger than us and our blogs, and do something to actually make a difference in the lives of women and children who are just like us.

Operation Smile is a charity organization healing children’s smiles, one operation at a time.

Operation Smile, is more than a charity organization. They are a mobilized force of medical professionals and caring hearts who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.  Each operation costs approximately $240.

With this is mind, we created “Swap A Smile” to raise funds through an online auction of DIY and Craft Bloggers’ past projects.  We would love for you to join us in our efforts to give back to others who need help. It only takes a little bit to go a long way. Our goal is to be able to give at least 5 children new smiles and help them to live the life they weren’t meant to live.

Friday Flair and a Day at Scentsy Headquarters

0 · Oct 6, 2011 · 13 Comments

I’m so excited! As we speak {in a manner of speaking} I am touring the fabulous Scentsy Headquarters with several fun and talented friends and I can’t wait to share next week!!  While we wait… I thought I would show off some of the frun products that they carry. You know they aren’t all just candle warmers you know!

They have these amazing Scent Paks that are lovely. I have one that I keep in my dresser and my clothes ALWAYS smell divine.  I pack one in my luggage to stave off the musty smell of traveling. They are a must have!

Another great find… Travel Tins! Perfect for when you are on the go.  Slim and easy to travel with, they are perfect for fending off the sometimes questionable odors of hotel rooms and other places you find yourself {like your brother’s house!} You ALL know what I’m talking about, don’t you?

I am totally diggin’ my Black Raspberry Vanilla Fragrance Foam!  It’s a hand sanitizer that I have to ration myself with.  It smells so good I want to use it all the time!!  It’s perfect for your purse, diaper bag or right next to your computer {like me} because I love to smell it!

While I’m at Scentsy HQ I’m going to have to pick-up a few hundered of these Scent Circles.  Let’s face it… kiddos are stinky and my car needs help!

So you see, even it you aren’t a candle warmer kind of person… Scentsy has all kinds of products that you will LOVE!!  I can’t wait to tell you all the behind the scene kind of stuff next week after our quick trip.  Follow me on Twitter  for all the fun play by play!

Now it’s Party Time!!!

Shop For Sharlie & Friday Flair Features

1 · Sep 26, 2011 · 9 Comments

Happy Monday everyone!!  I am super excited for two things today.  First… I am thrilled to be involved with a wonderful fundraiser for Sharlie a wonderful lady who is in a desperate need for a double lung and heart transplant.

Long story in a nut shell… Sharlie has Cystic Fibrosis, she is a wife and a mom and needs help.  Sweet Mique of 30 Handmade Days is helping to coordinate and blogger fundraiser to help raise the funds to help in Sharlie's fight for life.  All you need to do to help is to go to Shop for Sharlie… a shop full of all kinds of wonderful tutorials, patterns, printables and more, designed specially for this event.  All you need to do is select a tutorial for example, and purchase it for $5.00 to help Sharlie's cause.  Here is the tutorial that I donated…

Sooooo… please, please, please run on over there and find a little goodie to help sweet Sharlie and her family!!

Second, you guys once again blew me away with last weeks Friday Flair.  It was a record breaker for one, and then all of the fun projects!  You guys are aaaaaamazing!  Here is some of what caught my eye this week…
