Creativebug Review – Is It Worth the Cost?

70 · Jun 26, 2022 · Leave a Comment

I want to mention that if you make a purchase through an affiliate link, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. But, this wouldn’t ever stop me from giving my completely honest review of Creativebug.

If you’ve been a reader for a while you know I don’t hold back on giving my honest opinion.

Before joining Creativebug I had A LOT of questions, and I’m sure you do too.

Let me give you the short answer on Creativebug here in case you’re in a rush for time.

Overall, it’s great. If you are truly still on the fence after this article then you should sign up for the FREE TRIAL so you can get an idea for yourself though. When you sign up for a year of Unlimited Plus, the current price is just $5.95 per month.

Okay now, let’s get into the details so you can see why I’m recommending it.

So Exactly What is Creativebug?

Creativebug is an online learning platform for everything to do with arts and crafts. There are thousands of these classes. I was more interested in sewing, quilting, jewelry making, and recipes. But, I had a look at most of what they had to offer. I was really busy going through the website for the past three months. My husband was getting tired of me spending all of my time watching these videos haha.

So what compares to Creativebug? There are only two other options in my opinion. The first is YouTube and the other is Craftsy. YouTube is free but it’s less instructional. You can learn things but it’s more just for entertainment. There’s usually very little structure when it comes to teaching on YouTube because everyone has their own courses and classes they are trying to sell. The great thing about Creativebug and Craftsy is that you get access to very instructional and informative videos for such a low cost.

Is Creativebug Legit?

Creativebug is a legit company. They have a lot of online marketing and promotions which may get people asking questions, but overall, it’s a great company. I joined for 3 months and then canceled just to see if I could. The only reason I canceled was to be able to write this review and to make sure they honored their cancelation policy. I rejoined because I liked it so much though.

One thing that is good to know is that they offer a money-back guarantee. I always find this to be a good sign from a company when they offer a money-back guarantee.

Creativebug vs Craftsy – Which is Better?

The main difference between the two is you can buy Craftsy lessons individually. The best thing to do though is to become a member. On Creativebug, all you need is your membership. Both have great courses and lessons. I am going to write a full comparison between the two of these very soon.

How Many Classes Does Creativebug Have?

Creativebug has well over 1,000 classes and they are adding more every single month. It’s possible that they have over 2,000 classes by now. I can’t find an exact number but all of their classes are taught by experts in their respective fields. I think this is the most important part. It’s not really about the number of classes but about the quality of the classes.

Creativebug’s classes are informative and entertaining, and you KNOW you’re getting good information because the instructors are vetted. This is unlike YouTube or Skillshare for instance. On YouTube or Skillshare, you have no idea if the person is knowledgeable or not.

This isn’t to say that Creativebug doesn’t have many classes at all though. They do and you’ll never get bored. If for some reason you do get bored you can cancel your membership at any time.

How to Sign Up for Creativebug

It’s quite easy to sign up for the free trial. Click Here to start the free trial.

You should be able to get a 60-day free trial with the link above.

I strongly suggest going with the plus version of Creativebug for a year because you can end up getting a big discount. There’s so much inside your membership that you won’t get bored and it’s only $5.95 per month with the year-long version. If you decide you don’t like it before the free trial is up then you can simply cancel the membership.

How Much Does Creativebug Cost?

Creativebug offers three different pricing levels.

They have the basic version, the Unlimited, Unlimited Plus, and Unlimited Plus Annual.

The Unlimited plan is $7.95/mo and is the lowest tier.

The Unlimited Plus plan is $9.95/mo when you sign up monthly and only $5.95 per month when you sign up for the annual version.

The difference between Unlimited vs Unlimited Plus plan is at the bottom of the image.  You get discounts on Joann fabrics and you also get to keep one class per month forever. Keeping the classes is valuable by itself. But, I like the Unlimited Plus plan the best because the annual version lets you save $23 per year or more on the cost. If you already like Joann, then it’s a great idea to go with the Unlimited Plus for that as well.

Is It Easy to Cancel Creativebug

It’s really easy to cancel. You don’t have to call them or do any tricks like some companies. Simply go to your account profile, click on Billing, and click Cancel.

The Final Verdict

If you’re on the fence about Creativebug, I say just do it. You won’t regret it. If you do regret it then you can simply cancel during your free trial period. I would also like to hear your thoughts on Creativebug. This wraps up my Joann Creativebug review!

Mimi G’s Sew It Academy Review – Is it Worth It?

31 · Jun 22, 2022 · 3 Comments

I signed up for Sew it Academy by Mimi G a few months ago. I found a lot of mixed reviews online so I wanted to try it myself. If you know me well enough, you know that I like to try things out myself and share it with you!

So, is Sew It Academy worth it? I’m going to share my honest review of Sew it Academy here in this post. Some of the other Sew It Academy reviews online seem to be fake. I think this is because they are using affiliate links to promote it so they give it a good rating so they can get paid for the review.

If you’re short on time I’ll give you the final verdict here…

I strongly believe that paid training and content for sewing is the way to go. Just like with education, it’s sometimes easier to find a tutor or search “write my essay in 3 hours” or “get help with my papers”. This way, you will meet your deadlines and improve your writing skills. You will also learn how to structure your ideas more effectively. No matter what you’re doing – writing, sewing, or any craft – getting help or taking a course can make a big difference compared to doing it alone.

You get so much more detail from creators and teachers when you pay for the content. With that said, there are definitely better online sewing schools than Sew it Academy for the money. For example, I created a Craftsy review that you can read and see why I like it better.  Read until the end to see why and which sewing schools might be of better value.

How Much is Sew It Academy?

Sew it Academy is $17.97 per month for the full membership. I think this is a reasonable price to pay for a sewing school and it’s in line with the cost of other sewing schools. The only problem I have is that I don’t think it’s worth the cost. A better value would be Craftsy at $8.99 per month instead. Craftsy is even cheaper when you sign up for a year. You get so much more for the money. One good thing about Sew It Academy is that it has a free trial so you can see what you’re getting before you pay but I truly believe it’s not worth it. Mimi G seems to be more interested in being viewed as a great businesswoman instead of delivering a great product.

Sew It Academy Courses and Projects

The projects inside of SewIt Academy are good. I have been enjoying most of them because they’re fun and creative. However, I don’t really like the lessons. It seems like Mimi G, the owner, is more focused on marketing her program than she is on delivering good lessons.

While Sew It Academy is quite affordable, I am not that impressed with the overall quality of these lessons. I think she talks too quickly through skills and concepts that would take me more time to understand fully. You would think with such a successful business that she would put more focus and effort on covering things thoroughly.

The draping course is only a basic bodice. The entire tailoring series is only one hour long. Other sites like Craftsy have over 15 hours of lessons and content on these types of skills. This is the main place I think that Sew It Academy can improve.

If you can’t tell by now, I don’t think Sew it Academy is a great option. I’d strongly suggest getting a yearly membership elsewhere.

Sew It Academy Coupons and Discounts

I sent an email to Sew It Academy to tell them I was going to be writing a review and asked for a coupon code for you, my readers. No one emailed me back about this. I don’t think they do discounts or coupon codes but you can always get the free trial to see if you like it.

Sew It Academy Customer Service

I don’t have experience with their customer service as a client. I did send them emails asking about discount codes but no one emailed me back.

There aren’t any bad reviews online about their customer service but from my experience of sending 4 emails, I received no replies at all. This seems odd to me. Maybe it’s just Mimi G cutting another corner to make more money? I’m not sure but it hasn’t been a good experience for me.

Conclusion for This SewIt Academy Review

I say you can sign up for the free trial to see for yourself. If you already know a lot about sewing and just want some patterns and fun projects it would be fun for a few months. If you’re looking for in-depth tutorials and classes then I would choose another program instead.

Let’s Say Oui to ME Time • Oui by Yoplait

4 · Sep 4, 2017 · 2 Comments

As much as I adore my kiddos, there are times when I need a special ME treat! Do you ever feel that way? This post is brought to you by the amazing folks at Yoplait, because they know that sometimes, we need to say Oui (French for YES) to ME time!

Disclaimer + This post is sponsored by Yoplait. However, all thoughts, ideas and opinions are my very own.

Silly Guy WhipperBerry-100 My kiddos are cute, they’re crazy, goofy and silly. Sometimes they’re grumpy and quite frankly they turn into pills at times. This little guy is a ball of energy, when that energy is directed towards good, he brings such light into our home. BUT… If that energy is a negative energy man-oh-man, his energy can turn negative rather quickly. It’s like it’s his super power. Jekyll & Hyde ring any bells? Toss him into a home with three teenage sister and it can turn into a powder keg for sure.

Thoming-Family-190

crazy-girls

It’s true magic when we are all together and having fun just being together, but… When the wind is blowing from the east or someone’s foot touches someone else’s personal space, WATCH OUT! Think super collider!

We had one of those super collider days a few weeks ago, right before school started again. Actually, I believe it was the last Friday before school started the following Monday. We were all on each other’s last nerve. We had just returned home from a two week long road trip and we decided at the last minute to paint a couple of the girl’s rooms in our new house. Brilliant! Not our best move…

That afternoon, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I needed a break. I needed some ME time. I needed a treat. I didn’t know what. I didn’t want something full of sugar, but I still wanted it to feel decadent. I wanted it to be special.

The closest store to our home is Walmart and I decided to head there. I really don’t know why I chose Walmart, other than it was the closest place that was easy to escape to and I could wander the aisles aimlessly until I found that special something that could get me out of this bad attitude. Mom needed a timeout!

I wandered to the bakery, nothing looked tempting. I hit the candy aisle, again nothing hit the mark. Freezer section, nothing. I wanted something cool & creamy, not too sweet, something that tasted real.

I rounded the corner into the dairy section at Walmart and it hit me… I knew exactly what I wanted to help wash away the frustrations of the day, Oui by Yoplait.

Take a little bit of ME time with Yoplait Oui yogurt and WhipperBerry

I saw this new yogurt and before I even registered what it was, I knew that was what was going to hit the spot. It was so cute and you know how much I LOVE great branding. It was creamy French style yogurt in a little glass jar. I had found my ME moment with Oui by Yoplait without even trying!  It was like this beautiful yogurt was created just for ME!

Take a little bit of ME time with Yoplait Oui yogurt and WhipperBerry

Of course, I immediately grabbed some of my favorite flavors; lemon, black cherry, vanilla & strawberry and headed home to enjoy my new found treat.

Take a little bit of ME time with Yoplait Oui yogurt

You may find it a little weird but, my children have been trained after 7 years of blogging, if Mom comes in the house with something and she says that, “it’s for the blog,” they WILL NOT touch it. In 7 years of blogging, I have never taken advantage of that… Until now!  You guys, this yogurt is so good! Yoplait has hit it out of the park with this one. It’s thick, creamy and not too sweet and boy, I’m not going to share!

Take a little bit of ME time with Yoplait Oui yogurt and WhipperBerry

It’s made the traditional French way with simple, straight forward ingredients. The vanilla flavored Oui by Yoplait is made with; milk, cane sugar, yogurt cultures (L. bulgaricus and S. thermophilus) and vanilla extract. That’s it!

Their cows that produce the whole milk are feed a Non-GMO diet. The fruit is REAL, nothing is artificial. The French believe the measure of good food is the pleasure and joy it brings to life. That is exactly what I needed at that moment. Something cool, creamy & subtly sweet to bring back the joy that I needed to go back home to be with my family, with the right attitude in tow.

Take a little bit of ME time with Yoplait Oui yogurt and WhipperBerry

Will I start to share? Nope, as far as I’m concerned… These little pots belong to me. They are extra special and for those times when I need something extra special to bring that joy back into my day. Yoplait knew exactly what you and I needed to make our days extra special!

DIY Fall Throw Pillow • Oh, Delicious Fall

9 · Aug 30, 2017 · 3 Comments

Summer is coming to a close and it’s time to start thinking about Fall decor! This DIY Fall Throw Pillow is Perfect for your front porch or any room in the house!

Come make this simple Fall throw pillow with the fun "Oh, Delicious Fall" design by WhipperBerry. This is created with the Cricut Maker & Easy Press along with the Cricut Heat Transfer Material.

{ This post brought to you by • Cricut }

It’s time to start decorating for Fall and I’m over the moon excited to finally have a front porch that I can decorate! I’ve been working on all kinds of projects for the porch design and today I’m going to show you one of the elements. My DIY Fall throw pillow with the cute saying, “Oh, Delicious Fall.” Earlier today if you have been following my Story on Instagram… You watched live, how easy it is to make this simple accent pillow with the new Cricut Maker & Easy Press along with the Cricut Heat Transfer Material. It’s sooooo cool!!

The Cricut MAKER

You guys… I know you’ve seen all the buzz around the creative world about the new Cricut Maker and Cricut Easy Press. I’m here to tell you, everything you’ve heard is legit. These two new machines are game changers in the creative world. I’m sure you’ve seen some of the stuff the new Cricut Maker can do, it cuts…

  • fabric { without any type of backing }
  • felt
  • leather
  • balsa and bass wood
  • crepe paper
  • chip board
  • mat board
  • and the list goes on and on…

The engineers at Cricut have come up with an adaptive cutting tool system that is truly inspired. They have also dramatically increased the cutting power which allows for all of the new materials. They’ve increased the cutting power 10x… That’s seriously impressive! Here are some of the displays with amazing vignettes all created with the Cricut Maker for the launch event earlier this month.

The Cricut Maker and Easy Press Launch Event with WhipperBerry

The Cricut adaptive tool system

Well, enough about that… Let’s get to work on the Fall throw pillow. Now keep in mind, I am using the new Cricut Maker but, you can use any of the Cricut cutting machines like the Cricut Air 2 for this project. We are using the Cricut Heat Transfer Material that any of those machines can handle just fine. Also, I am using the Cricut Easy Press, which is FABULOUS!! But, you won’t be left out in the cold if you don’t have an Easy Press yet… You can use your iron to create this accent fluffy pillow as well.

Instructions for the DIY Fall Throw Pillow

Materials needed:

  • pillow cover
  • pillow form
  • Cricut Iron-On Lite – black
  • Cricut Light Grip cutting mat
  • Cricut cutting machine
  • Cricut Easy Press or an Iron
  • light cotton towel
  • Cricut Design Space

Directions:

First, you need to download the “Oh, delicious Fall” design that I’ve created for this pillow.

Oh, delicious Fall design for accent pillow by WhipperBerry

Then you’ll need to upload it into Design Space…

Working in Cricut Design Space

You’ll do that by clicking on the upload button on the left side of the screen.

upload in cricut design space-100

Now, the design is already sized for your standard 15 inch throw pillow but you can size it larger or smaller if you like. You will also need to add the maple leaf from the image library. I searched for a maple leaf in the search bar and then selected the leaf below. You could always select whatever image you like.

Cricut Maple Leaf-100

Size and place the leaf into the design and then you need to select your designs and then Weld them together and then Attach them to your “cutting mat.”

weld your design-100

Now, it’s time to “Make It” by clicking on the Make It button at the top right of the screen. When working with iron-on material, you need to make sure that you mirror the design so that it cuts properly.

Now, you need to place your Cricut Iron-On light onto your cutting mat. Make sure to follow the package directions for how to place it on your mat. Basically, the shiny side needs to be placed face down on the mat. If you were following my Instagram Story, you would have seen that I don’t bother to cut the material off of the roll until I have finished cutting my design. It cuts down on waste and makes it easier to remove your design from the cutting mat. All you need to do is roll it right back up. It’s super slick.

How to load your Cricut Iron-On Lite onto your cutting mat.

Now, you need to load your mat into the machine, connect your machine to your computer, iPad or other mobil device via Bluetooth and then select your material that you will be cutting.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-12

Click on Iron-On and you’re all set to cut…

Learning how to cut iron on vinyl with the Cricut Maker via WhipperBerry

Once you have finished the cutting process, you’ll need to weed your iron-on vinyl to remove the excess material.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-13

While you are weeding your iron-on vinyl, you’ll want to pre-heat your Cricut Easy Press or your iron so that you’re ready to go once you’ve finished weeding.

The NEW Cricut MAKER and the Cricut Easy Press

I have found a setting of 350˚ for about 50 seconds usually does the trick when I’m working with the Cricut Iron-On Lite. The nice thing about the easy press is that is has nice consistent temperature over the entire base. Check this out…

ed00ca8a52d9b0e655dc521e1366d505

This is showing the heat variance with a traditional iron. That’s why some people have been frustrated in the past with creating iron-on projects. You don’t have to worry about that anymore with the Easy Press. It has a large 9×9 inch plate which is AWSOME!! That’s how you’ll achieve professional results without investing in a bulking and expensive heat press machine. It’s light weight and easy to store which is a total bonus.

First, I pre-heat my pillow cover, this helps to start the iron-on process with the vinyl. Plus, it irons out any wrinkles in your pillow cover.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-16

Oh, I also use a portable ironing blanket that you can find at Walmart or Target in the laundry section. It’s perfect for protecting your surface while you’re using the Easy Press.

Now, center your design on your pillow cover.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-17

Cover your design with a light cotton tea towel.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-18

And then, place the Easy Press onto your design with the timer set for 50 seconds and press the Cricut button to start the timer. Lightly press on the Easy Press and wait for the timer to go off.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-19

Now, my design was a little larger than the 9×9 plate so I did it a few times to make sure I had transferred the entire design onto my pillow cover. Then I removed the protective plastic cover, replaced the towel and then did one more go with the Easy Press to make sure everything was set.

Oh,-Delicious-Fall-Pillow-Cricut-Maker-Cricut-Easy-Press-WhipperBerry-20

That was it! I put the pillow form into the pillow cover and voilá… I had a fun accent piece for my new front porch bench.

Oh, Delicious Fall accent pillow created by WhipperBerry

How simple is that? If you don’t have a Cricut machine or the Cricut Easy Press… I would for sure start dropping hints to Santa pronto! This is a new era for creating and these are the must have tools!!

Disclaimer • I am a Cricut Ambassador this year and I’m thrilled to be a part of that crew. I truly love these products and for sure would not share anything that I didn’t naturally use in my own life and LOVE. I have received product and payment for my time in putting together this informative post for you guys. I hope you ENJOY!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
