{Blog Love} Melissa & Kellie from Icing Designs

1 · Oct 8, 2010 · 4 Comments

Looking for impeccable style, amaaazing talent and scrumptious treats?  Well, look no further.  I have been a huge fan of the ladies of Icing Designs for a while now.  Melissa, a former pastry chef, and Kellie, an incredible artist, have teamed up to bring us wonderful party ideas, masterful tutorials, and all-around prettiness.  These are ladies after my own heart.  We have become blogging pen-pals and decided it was high time to tell the world about each other.

Here is a little about Icing Designs from  Melissa herself…

We are blessed enough to be able to both be stay home moms with our little girls and work on Icing Designs (hand-illustrated and hand-glittered invitations, cards, cupcake flags, gift tags and letter garlands) . Kellie has been a designer of custom invitations for over 7 years and Melissa is a former pastry chef. If you look at our illustrations each one has a sweet in it! We love creating dessert tables to showcase our paper goods and they have slowly started becoming a part of our business. We also create something called frosted photos, hand-glittered photos! Which are one of our most popular items! We opened an Icing Designs Etsy shop about a year ago.

Come visit our blog Icing Designs, where we like to showcase everything we love and lots of DIY projects.

Together, we share many passions. We both have a love for party planning and perfect details! We love anything French and dream of Paris. We love cooking, baking and most of all eating! We love anything that glitters and dessert bars at parties! We both think we were born to live in Europe and walk on cobblestone roads laced with outdoor markets. We love coffee and think any and everything is better dipped in dark chocolate. We are inspired by all things vintage and shabby. We get excited about sales at Anthropologie and J Crew. We look forward to estate sales and blooming peonies in the spring. We have an obsession with pedestal plates and entertaining wear. Although we will always have a special spot in our hearts for cupcakes, we think macarons just might be the new cupcake!

Check out these amazing projects!

{Recipe} Monster Mash

0 · Oct 7, 2010 · Leave a Comment

By popular demand, here are some of the tasty treats from our Halloween table that we posted on Monday.  We promise all the “spooks” at your party will gobble up every bite of this delicious treat!

WB 057

Monster Munch

7 Squares almond bark, divided

1 ½ cups pretzel sticks

Orange food coloring

2 cups graham cereal

¾ cup Halloween M&M’s

¾ cup mini marshallows

½ cup chocolate sprinkles

Melt 2 sq. almond bark in small microwave bowl for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Repeat for intervals of 15 seconds until melted thoroughly.

Stir in pretzels until coated. Spread out on wax paper to set.

Repeat the melting instructions for the final 5 sq. of almond bark. Stir in orange food coloring until it’s a bright orange.

Place cereal in a large bowl and cover with half the orange almond bark. Stir until coated evenly. Add chocolate pieces, marshmallows, and remaining bark. Stir in pretzel sticks. Spread out on waxed paper in small clusters. Sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles. Let set.

After it’s partially set, it can be divided into cups, or drizzle melted chocolate or colored almond bark for a beautiful effect.

Makes about 5 cups.

Happy Munching!

The other day I stumbled upon this tasty little Etsy shop, courtesy of Design Mom, and I fell in love!  SmidgeBox Designs is the brain child of Lesley, an extremely talented stay at home mom from Vancouver B.C.

Aren’t these Halloween buckets divine!?  I love the color and texture in each one of them.  You can tell from the pictures that they are expertly crafted down to the littlest detail.  Lesley, you are a master of design!  I wish I could order all four for my four little spooks!

She also has some amazing fabric bins for everyday use.  Don’t you think they would class up any playroom or nursery?

And check out these AMAZING baby blankets.  I see one of them on my little guys Christmas list already.
