Friday Flair Link Party /// Apple Edition

0 · Sep 13, 2012 · 52 Comments

It’s {almost} Friday… The weekend is almost here, so it must be time for Friday Flair!!

So… to say that life is a little crazy right now is a bit of an understatement. Here’s the scoop.  My husband has been looking for a job for several months now after a bit of a job scare earlier this spring. He had a job opportunity come up that we thought was a bit of a long shot, but after some discussion we decided it would be good interview experience if nothing else.  He had his first interview before we went to Hawaii and then they scheduled a second interview for when he returned.  Still, we thought it was a long shot. Long story short… HE GOT THE JOB!! The crazy part it’s in Lincoln, Nebraska and we have to be there by October 1st. We basically have three weeks to find a home, pack up the house, style a wedding, withdraw the kids from school, manage the blog… what’s that you say? Yea, While packing up the home and family, I have a wedding that I’ve been working on for months now on September 28th. EEEEEEEK!

It will be fine.  No stress at all. I can do anything right?  With that said… I may need to take a little time to get life settled for the family.  I have a few people who have offered to guest post for me and they are fabulous!! I am going to take a little break from Friday Flair, so after this week the next Friday Flair will be October 11th. Don’t forget me… I will be popping in as often as I can and I promise to come back with some aaaamazing creations for you once we get settled in Lincoln. I will be on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram if you want to follow the craziness of #whipperonthemove you’re more than welcome to join us for the ride.  Better yet, bring a few boxes with ya when you come!

In the mean time, if you have a fabulous post that you would like to share, feel free to submit them to me here.  I will select a couple as guest post while I am madly trying to pack the family up! You are all wonderful… I adore you all! Wish me luck… I think I may need it!

Now on to this weeks inspiration photo…

img source /// mini apple and cinnamon bundt cakes from sips and spoonfuls

September is all about the glorious apple to me.  I love the apple harvest and all the goodies that come with it.  This recipe from Sukaina from Sips and Spoonfuls looks divine and I can’t wait to give it a try this month.

Now who’s ready for the PARTY?

It’s Time for Friday Flair!!

Hi Heather! Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful party! Good luck with the big move! We did a big family move 3000 miles across the country a few years ago and had only 5 days to find a house! But we did it and everything went well and everyone got adjusted to their new schools, etc. Take care! Angie xo

Congrats on the big move! I grew up in Lincoln and although most people think Nebraska is just corn there’s more to it than that, mostly football! Buy lots of Husker red, thick warm boots, and get to know your weatherman. There are plenty of crafting women so I’m sure you’ll find friends. And if you need any info about the city feel free to ask me and I’ll offer my two cents:).

Congrats to your husband (and the whole family) and the new job. I’m telling you every move we have ever had has been like that (and we have moved our fair share). It is so stressful. I totally understand. Our last move was like that and was from one coast to another. Fun! Not! Just hang on the best you can and try to focus on today and what needs to happen today. It sort of helps. I wish you all the best and that your move and everything else goes really smoothly! Thanks for hosting and I will look forward to hearing how it all went in October.

My husband and I LOVE Lincoln! Our son in law graduated from U of Nebraska Law school. We spent some time visiting and were really impressed with the friendliness of the people. Yes, get your Husker Red and enjoy the game days. I even have a “got corn” shirt.
I packed a house and moved with two kids under 4 , pregnant with our 3 rd daughter in a week and it was crazy, but you know….things worked out and at least there’s not two feet of snow on the ground when you move. There are always pluses to moving. And a wonderful opportunity for your husband and your family. Good luck . You will be blessed and watched over.

Not all holiday gifts need to be ooey gooey sweet. Savory holiday gifts are just as lovely, sometimes even more so. I personally have been off sugar for 3 months now and I’m really nervous for the holiday season to arrive. Having the house fill up with sweets is NOT what I’m wishing for this Christmas. I would LOVE to get one of these Ball® Sharing Jar soup mixes as a gift. Not only are they soothing to the soul, but they are also good for you as well. - WhipperBerry @ballcanning #soupinajar #printabletags #souprecipe

Soup Mix Sharing Jars

This year, I’m working on all kinds of fun gifts for the Holidays that will look spectacular gifted inside of a jar. One of my favorites is the White Chocolate Ginger Scone Mix in a jar. It’s really easy to put together a whole bunch of these gifts and really not expensive at all. It’s always a bonus to save a little money during the holidays. @ballcanning #giftsinajar #neighborgifts #teachergifts #sconeinajar

White Chocolate Ginger Scone Mix In A Jar

As much as we hate to admit it, cold and flu season is on its way. There is nothing more miserable than one of those lousy winter colds. What’s almost just as bad is watching someone you care for dealing with a cold or, Heaven forbid, the flu! I’m always looking for ways to help cheer them up and let them know that we love them and hope for their better health. That’s when I came up with this idea for a Cold and Flu Rescue Kit to share with those loved ones that are suffering. • WhipperBerry

Not to knock commercially prepared applesauce, but when you have the opportunity to enjoy homemade applesauce, you will know the difference. It’s sweet and tangy with the perfect texture. Not to mention the fact that it harmonizes well with many different notes on your palette AND, it’s super easy to make! #applesauce #applesaucerecipe #homemadeapplesauce
