Family Planner | Free Printable

17 · Jun 7, 2012 · 19 Comments

I wanted to share a guest post that I created for my sweet friend Lara from Less Cake {More Frosting} last week while she is recovering from surgery.  It's a stylish & practical family planner for those times when you need a little help around the house.

I know how crazy and scary this time can be for a family.  Back in March I had to have unplanned surgery and it boy, can that throw the family into chaos.  My husband and I headed off to the emergency room and left my fourteen year old in charge.  My husband wasn't able to get back to the house until the following day.  By that time, I had been admitted to the hospital and was getting prepared for surgery.  We didn't have time to line-up child care, to go grocery shopping, to make a list of all the important numbers that one would need to make sure our family continued to function in my absence.  I had wonderful friends that jumped in to help, but again… they don't have all the information like school information, health information and such in order to make sure our family stayed on track.

Now that's an extreme example, but think about it… wouldn't it be nice to have a central location to keep all of that kind of information handy? Not just for when you may need to be rushed off to surgery, but when you and your honey would like to go out of town and Grandma comes to help take care of the kiddos, or maybe you are headed out of town and Dad needs all this basic family information close at hand, or you are having another baby, so many times we need to make sure our family is organized well, and we usually we just don't' have time to do it properly.

To address this dilemma, I've created a fantastic tool for your family to use  just in case you find yourself in a situation where Mom is out of commission or you need to go out of town. It's a printable Family Planner with all of the information that another caregiver will need when taking care of your family.  All you need to do is print out these basic forms, fill them out, put them in a binder and you are set.

school schedule

First we have the school schedule page with all of the important school information Dad, Grandma or whom ever will be watching your kiddos will need to to make sure everyone stays on track for school while you are gone. School contact information, School start and end times, bus information.  All the basic information that we as Moms have stored in our heads.

An additional idea is to add a folder for each child behind this page to store homework or important notes that come home while you are gone.  You can also add more information, like when homework is due, when they have their specials {i.e. gym, music, library, ect.} and any other information that will help your kiddos have a positive school experience while you are not there managing the ship. I even added a Post-it pocket on the back of the previous sheet to place small items like lunch money and such that they will need while you are away.

child care

I know that when I had my surgery in March my little guy whet to a different friends home each day, and that schedule can be hard to keep up with.  Here is a handy form to fill out for your husband or caregiver, so that they know exactly what will be happening as far as child care is concerned each day.

enrichment activities

If you have kiddos these days, you know that with them comes all kinds of activities. Piano, soccer, dance, you name it… they are busy all the time.  Here is a handy sheet to help your temporary caregiver stay organized and know exactly where and when to go each day. You can print one out for each child and you are good to go!

medical information

Again, you can print one of these sheets for the whole crew or one for each kiddo.  Write down all of their important medical information just in case something happens while you are away. This way there won't be any panic if someone needs to see the Doctor while you are gone.  Not only that, you can list all of their allergies and medications as well.

I also added a Post-it pocket to this page as well to keep all of the kiddos insurance cards close at hand, just in case.

meal planning

Now we have a meal planning section to help your families caregiver take care of their food needs.  If your family is anything like mine, everyone has their likes and dislikes.  I don't cater to my kiddos, but I do know what really sends them over the edge and try to avoid it if possible.  This is especially a good idea when they may already have a higher stress level because Mom is gone.  It's better to take the food anxiety out of the equation. Plus, you can help your caregiver by planning everything out for them so they don't have to worry about meals if you have some time to prepare before hand.  Here is another section where I added the Post-it Pockets.  You can put cash or a pre-paid grocery card just in case they need to run to the store for anything.  You can also stack it with gift cards from your families favorite local restaurants for Grandma {or who ever is watching the kiddies} to take them for a special treat without having to dip into their budget.

Now all you have to do is print all of these forms to fill out, find a cute binder {I found my lovely chevron binder at Target} and place each sheet into the binder in a sheet protector.  You could even laminate each sheet and use dry-erase markers to fill everything out so that when things change it will be easy to update.  Add several sheets of notebook paper to the binder for other notes and you will have your family plan at hand.  Keep it up to date and even if you have a unexpected emergency like my family did, you are good to go!

I created these printables using Rhonna Designs Chevron Tool Kit, isn't it just delish?!  If you would like to print out the full sheets of prints to help decorate your binder like I did, you can visit Rhonna's site to purchase and download the kit to have access to all of these fun digital elements.

I pray that you only have to use this planner for when you go out of town for a fabulous trip to Hawaii, but at least you know you're covered for other things as well!

Fathers Day Magnet Board | Gift Idea with Free Printable

11 · May 31, 2012 · 36 Comments

The other day the little guy and I joined my sweet husband at work for a quick bite to eat and I noticed something horribly wrong with his office… All of the pictures that I had so lovingly framed and put together for him of our family were horribly out dated.  Some of them were missing key family members because they weren’t even born yet! With Fathers Day approaching I thought this would be a great opportunity to bring his office surroundings up to the present day. The issue, he needs his desk to actually work so… I needed to come up with a fun idea that was also space saving as well.

The Photos

Like many people out there I have fallen in love with Instagram and I thought it would be a fun idea to use my fun Instagram photos to create a magnetic memo board for my Honey’s office. My sweet friend Kellie from Nest of Posies turned me onto StickyGram9 while we were at SNAP! and I thought it would be a perfect way to liven up my husband’s work space.  StickyGram has such a fabulous idea… they turn your Instagram photos into a cute little magnet that is perfect to dress up your fridge, your work space, dorm room… where ever you can stick a magnet…  now you can stick your Instagrams. I LOVE this idea.

This is such a fun way to get a snapshot of real life, not just those posed family pictures that we all love.  This is a slice of real life.

The Magnetic Board

I headed to the brand new Container Store here in Las Vegas and found the perfect magnetic memo board for the job.

You can’t see it here but it’s long, 2.5 x 28 inches perfect for adding several StickyGrams. Of course, being myself I wanted to dress it up a bit.  I couldn’t just hand him a long strip of stainless steal and some magnets and call it good.  It needed to be Whipperfied!

Granted, I know the poor guy does not want a single felt flower or a lick of burlap to ever set foot in his office space… gasp, what would the guys think? They all say they don’t care… but they do care what other guys think! I knew it needed to be masculine and understated in order for it to fit the space. I found some vintage looking paper and thought it would look great if I decoupaged that right onto the magnetic strip.

The Supply List

  • Americana Decoupage from Deco Art
  • A sponge applicator
  • Paper {whatever fits your taste}
  • Freezer paper or something to protect your surface {I also used some plastic knives to prop up the board off of the paper just a smidge}
  • Magnetic memo board

The Instructions

  1. Place the magnetic strip on some freezer paper and lift it up on some plastic knives or whatever is handy, it just keeps the board from resting directly on the paper while you are using the Decoupage.
  2. Cut the strips of paper into 2.5 inch strips. Because of the length of the metal strip I need a few sheets of paper.
  3. Apply a thin coat of Decoupage directly onto the surface of the metal.
  4. Carefully apply the first piece of paper onto the metal and secure into place by appling another thin coat of Decoupage onto the  surface of the paper.

  1. Once you finish appling the paper let it dry for a bit.  The beautiful thing about the Decoupage is that it dries to the touch pretty fast.  However, I would still let it sit for a couple of hours before I did anthing else to it, just to be safe.

The Design

Now even though I was trying to keep this pretty low key, I wanted it to symbolize that it was a Fathers Day gift from us, so I created a classy image to put in the corner of the memo board.  I printed it directly on the paper  so it fit seamlessly into the general design of the memo board. Here it is if you would like to download it and use it for a board of your own.

Click on the arrow at the bottom of the box and the download will automatically start. This printable if for WhipperBerry followers {please follow via Facebook, Twitter, Feeburner, Email, Pinterest or Instagram} and is for personal use only.

Before you apply your printed image to the board, test it with the Decoupage just to make sure the ink doesn’t smear.  I didn’t have an issue, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

When it dries it looks beautiful!!

The Finishing Touches

Once your board is dry, all you have to do is find the best instagram photos to share.  I created several sheets of my Instagram pictures that I thought my husband would love.

Not all of them fit on the board at one time, but that’s the fun of it!  I put all of the extras into a jar that he can keep on his desk and then he can switch them out as often as he likes.

The lovely thing is that every once in a while I can purchase a new sheet of StickyGrams to freshen up his fun board.  It’s perfect!! It doesn’t take up too much space and it doesn’t have all the same old pictures all the time.  I LOVE it!!  I hope my Mr. will love it too.

I have been sooooo excited to share my Fathers Day printable idea with you guys!!  It’s simple, easy and very inexpensive…

“Pop you put the FIZZ in my life!”

Now I have to admit, I am a soda lover!!  However, I do not love it for the sugar… I love it for the FIZZ!  The bubbles that dance all over your mouth.  They make me happy.  Some days that is all it takes to make my day… a good fresh, straight from the fountain Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper.  Those are my all time faves, because you know a girl need variety in life.

Anyway… like the bubbles in my pop, my Pop brings so much joy in my life!

Here is the fun free printable for you to share some of the love with your POP!

Just click on the arrow at the bottom of the box and the download will start automatically.

I layered it with a fun red polka-dot scrapbook paper to give it they little extra wowza… tie with some baker’s twine from Divine Twine courtesy of Whisker Graphics and voila… add it to your POP’s favorite fizzy beverage and you’re good as gold!

{Yes, if you are looking carefully… I changed the design of the tag a smidge after my photo session.  I liked the new one better but my kiddos had already devoured the lovely soda!}

Pazookie | Recipe

11 · Dec 28, 2011 · 26 Comments

A few weeks ago I participated in the holiday cookie exchange at LoveFeast Table and thought I would share my Pazookie with you guys today.  No, no… it's not misspelled, it's a Pizookie in a jar, so I called it a PAZOOKIE. I came up with it for a fun, out of the box cookie exchange idea, but I think it would also be great for a cozy New Years celebration… So, here you have it, the Pazookie!

You may have heard of a Pizookie… a chocolate chip cookie baked in a pan and is kind of like a gooey, chocolate pizza.  Well, a Pazookie is a similar treat, however it is baked in a jar.  I am a big fan of creating fun treats in jars.  They are portioned perfectly and provide a fabulous blank canvas in order embellish your fun treat.  Here are some of the other treats in a jar from WhipperBerry…
