Creamy Iced Choffy {Recipe}

4 · Jun 9, 2011 · 8 Comments

With summer gently tapping us on the shoulder I thought I would share my new LOVE… Creamy Iced Choffy!!!

You all know that I am a huge Choffy fan {If you don’t know what Choffy is… click here to learn all about this heavenly brewed CHOCOLATE!!}

This treat is the highlight of my morning routine.  Here is what you need to do…

*  Brew some Choffy according to the package directions.

*  Fill {I mean to the top} a large glass with ice.

*  Pour the brewed Choffy over the ice until the glass is 3/4 of the way full.

*  Add some milk {not all the way to the top} you still want some room.

*  Add a splash of flavored creamer to sweeten the deal!!  I prefer Sugar-free French Vanilla or Hazelnut to keep it all on the up and up.  That way I don’t have to feel guilty drinking this EVERY day.

*  If you still would like it a little sweeter you can add sugar or I add a packet of Truvia {love the stuff!!}

You’ve got to try this!!  To order some Choffy of your very own… click Here!!  IF you’ve tried Choffy I would LOVE to hear how you like to prepare it… email me heather@whipperberry.com and let me know what you think!!

Skinny Jeans Makeover {Tutorial}

0 · Jun 8, 2011 · 21 Comments

Do you ever feel one step behind the fashion curve? Are you big hair when everyone else is sleek and smooth? Are you blue eye shadow and coral lips? Do you stare at your closet of flared pants wishing they were skinny jeans?

Here at WhipperBerry, we love to admire the latest trends. While you can still catch us in T-shirts and jeans, we love to spruce up! It’s usually the price tag that keeps us from updating our wardrobes as often as we’d like. If you’re in the same boat, today’s your lucky day! Bring out your pairs of flared leg pants and we can help you turn them into your favorite pairs of skinny jeans with nothing more than thread, chalk and daring!

Did I hear a gasp of excitement? Good! Let’s get going!

You’ll need:

A piece of white chalk

Scissors

White cotton/poly thread

Sewing machine with a straight & zigzag stitch

1 pair flared leg jeans

To begin with, turn your pants inside out and put them on. Have a good friend mark a straight line with chalk. They should begin at your knee, the snuggest part of your current pair of jeans. You want about a ½ inch of wiggle room between the line you mark and your leg. Starting at your knee, draw a line from this point straight down to the hem.

Do the same on the other side of your first leg, being sure to leave ½ inch of wiggle room on that side too. At this point, go ahead and do the same thing to the other leg.

Take your jeans off (leaving them inside out) and bring them to your sewing machine. You’ll need regular white cotton/poly thread and a straight stitch. Sew one side, directly on the chalk line, from your knee to the hem.

Straight down, no big deal. When you switch over to the other side, flatted your material from the seam. Naturally there is extra fabric and you want to keep this for comfort. Starting at the other seam, flatten your pant leg and then stitch just like you did the other side. It’s important to flatten from the seam to keep your lines straight. Otherwise you can end up with a twisted look to your leg.

When you’re done stitching, clip your threads, but don’t trim your seams just yet. Go in and try on your pants. Here you can determine if you like the fit, if you’d like them tighter or looser. Remember….try on first…cut later. Once you’ve determined that you’re in love with your new look, trim a ½ inch from the seam.

Run a zigzag stitch along the raw edges to finish them off and keep them from fraying.

Now repeat for your other leg, following all the steps denoted above.

And there you have it, the best looking FREE pair of skinny jeans you’ve ever seen! Now go strut your stuff in your cutest shoes and tell your friends you did it yourself!

{Who I Am} Carolyn from Homework and Friday Flair

Carolyn from Homework

I’m Carolyn from Homework and I am honored to be a part of the Whipperberry “Who I Am” event.

I’m fairly new to blogging and have only been at it for about 8 months. I’m a work-at-home marketing consultant and started blogging when my consulting work slowed down. I have always enjoyed art projects and crafting but didn’t have the time or an outlet for my projects.

What I find so incredibly inspiring about this adventure is the blogging community. From seasoned bloggers who are so generous about sharing information, providing advice or giving you a shout out on their blogs, to the blog readers who take the time to visit, follow or leave a comment.

I love blogging and creating the projects that I post about and sell in my Etsy shop. Every day is an inspiration – you blog hop and discover an amazing project or a beautiful photograph, you receive a wonderful comment on your own post or get featured somewhere. Even a brief twitter exchange can leave you smiling.

That’s “Who I Am”… in other words, a happy member of the blogging community.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Carolyn has been one of our loyal readers and who really stood out in our very first link party. Her work is aaaamazing… she can take something as simple as a block of wood and make it beautiful. She’s someone to watch out for!!

Now on to the party!!

It’s Friday Flair… show us what you have {Whipped-Up} this week!

Here are the sticky rules {you know rules are in place so that no one gets their feelings hurt or their eye poked out! So let’s play nice.}

  • Please link up only your own projects, and link to the specific post, not your blog home page. No Etsy shops or giveaways, please.

  • You must grab a WhipperBerry button and include it somewhere in the post you’re linking, or on your home page (a text link is great too).

  • Stay and mingle (remember, it’s a party!), and leave a couple comments for other guests!
