DIH (Do it Herself) Drink Station

3 · Jun 13, 2016 · 4 Comments

+ This DIH Drink Station post brought to you by the lovely folks at Home Depot +

DIH Drink Station from WhipperBerry

You guys, I’m so excited about this project. No, really!

See that drink station above? I BUILT IT MYSELF!!!

Not bad for a girl who used to be afraid of power tools. Now I feel like I can conquer the world! Or build a table or something. I’m no Ana White yet, but I totally have the confidence now to try my hand at this building thing. I owe it all to Home Depot and their DIH (Do it Herself) challenge. The cool thing is that YOU can do this at your local Home Depot too!

This months DIH Workshop in your area will be on Thursday, June 16th at 6:30. Click HERE to register. If you have never been to a DIH workshop, you should go! This one is so fun, it’s FREE and you’ll learn how to make a beverage stations just like this one. Plus, to get to build on your skills and become truly handy around the house.

DIH Beverage Station from Home Depot

I was asked to be a part of a blogger challenge with 24 other bloggers. We all had to build the same beverage station from the Home Depot instructions and then give it our own special touches.

Doing some summer entertaining, this DIY Drink Station will be perfect!

I decided to give mine a classic look… I love everything clean and white right now but I want to distress through to a darker brown so, my first layer of paint was brown and then I painted the top an off-white and then distressed down a little bit.

I added a decorative trim piece around the top to give it a more elegant look and then added these fabulous hooks on the side to give it a little more character. Of course I had to spray paint the bucket gold as well.

I can not even tell you how awesome it feels to know that I built this myself!! This is what I started with…

Just some basic plywood and some common boards, with some fabulous directions and that’s it! I now have a beverage station that I can be truly proud of.

Isn’t it cute! I’ve teamed up with 24 other bloggers who have created the very same thing and then personalized it for their taste. Won’t it be fun to see everyone’s different styles? Before you head out to check out the other drink stations, make sure you register to attend the DIH Beverage Station Workshop at your Home Depot. It’s FREE, it’s fun, grab a friend and learn how to BUILD!

How to decorate with simple romantic flowers from the Michaels Flower Market by WhipperBerry

I ADORE flowers!

I love how something so simple can transform a space.

How-to-decorate-with-michaels-flower-market

Especially this time of year when we are all waking up from our winter hibernation. It’s time to pack away the buffalo check and the fun plaids and bring out the romantic spring florals. That’s why this month’s Michaels Makers Challenge is all about the Flower Market!

How to decorate with flowers

My one issue…

I HATE how quickly fresh flowers fade. I love having them around, but I truly dislike the cost of keeping them up in our home. That’s why I’m in love with Michaels new Floral Market with over 500 fresh new blooms that will for sure match almost any personality and decorating style!

I tend to keep things more on the simple end. As much as I love huge arrangements in other spaces. I feel like the space in my home needs something a little more delicate.

I have always loved Ranunculus blooms and thought they would be the perfect addition to this little corner in my kitchen.

These beautiful Ranunculus blooms paired with the romantic bud vase that I also found at Michaels it was a real home run!!

The beauty of the whole thing is that I get to have this romantic splash of spring and it’s not going to wither and die on me. I LOVE IT!

I’m sure you have a space in your home that could use a little love… It’s amazing how adding a little bloom can totally transform a room.

How to Create Damage Free Holiday Decor

+ This How to Create a Damage Free Holiday Decor post is brought to you by the folks at Command™ Products +

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-6

It’s no secret that I love to decorate for Christmas… Most of us do typically.

I start dreaming up my Christmas decor around September and it’s always grand with all kinds of fun elements that typically aren’t possible in nature or would require some home modification. Then I whittle my crazy ideas down a bit and come up with a more feasible plan and typically my Husband will say, “You can’t do that, it would put too many holes in the wall!”

Anyone with me on that?

What is it with men and nail holes in walls?

In years past that would mean that one of us would win… Either I would get to place nails to my hearts content to create the scene that I had envisioned OR… My husband gets his way and I pout for a few days. Neither option wasn’t great in my mind.

That is until I discovered how to have a damage-free Holiday with the Command™ Products!!

How to create DAMAGE-FREE Holiday Decor

I LOVE these little gems!! They have saved my bacon AND my Christmas dreams on countless occasions.

I use them ALL THE TIME when I’m creating fun vignettes around the house. They really come in handy around the holidays. This year, I have been wanting to create a kind of simple Scandinavian feel for Christmas. Simple colors, simple decor.

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-2

To me when I think of Scandinavian decor I think of red and white felt ball garlands and I wanted to create a fun little scene in my living room with some garlands. The problem was, the room I wanted to decorate doesn’t have a mantle or anything to hang the garlands from. I initially thought that I could place little nails on the wall and it would do the trick, BUT… I didn’t want to rock my husband’s world.

I turned to my favorite decorating tools, Command Hooks so that I could do a little damage-free holiday decorating …

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-18

I even hung our stockings right on the wall and they look great!

I love that you can get Command Hooks that are CLEAR so they don’t distract from what you are trying to create.

Now here’s the deal… I wanted to create my scene with my chalkboard wall, this wall has chalk all over it. Normally that would be an issue with any type of adhesive. All I did was clean a little spot where I wanted to place the hooks with alcohol, place the hooks, wait for an hour and then hang my display.

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-19

It’s that simple!

Here’s a little secret… I also used some Command Hooks to hide my cords from the tree and the lights.

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-20

I used a couple of hooks on the underside of my buffet to tuck those cords away out of site. LOVE IT!!

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-9

Want to know my extra special secret… I even hung my light fixture and wreath with a Command product but that’s a post for another day!

So… How are YOU going to have a damage-free holiday?

Red and White Christmas Tree

+ This Red and White Christmas Tree is brought to you by Treetopia +

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-5

I’m so excited for Christmas this year!

I love decorating for the holidays and this year has been so fun. I’ve been selected to participate in the 2015 Treetopia Design Council.  I’ve totally shaken-up my routine and I’ve played around with new colors, new concepts… AND, I love it!

Our theme this year is more of a European / Old World simplicity. I’ve already shared our first tree for one of our rooms and it has more of the natural, old world feel. This new tree is for our front room and it has more of a Swiss Chalet feel to it with a pinch of whimsy…

WhipperBerry-White-Christmas-3

I’ve always wanted a white tree and this one is a gem from Treetopia.

In our family we kind of take the less-is-more direction when it comes to decorating our Christmas trees and I found a few simple ornaments that fit perfectly with our theme and gave it a simple but beautiful outcome.
