Valentine’s Day Red Velvet Pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup // Recipe

24 · Jan 2, 2013 · 22 Comments

Red Velvet Pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup // While I'm taking a little break with the family for our holiday vacation, I thought I would share an older post from a few years back.  A fun Valentine's Day breakfast idea, Red Velvet Pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup.

heart shaped red velvet pancakes

Serve up a romantic breakfast-in-bed for your Valentine with these decadent pancakes.  Simply beautiful, and yet more pleasing to the taste-buds than even the eyes.  I know my sweetheart revels in any opportunity to feel just so pampered. How fun it is to celebrate the month of love through the delights of sweet treats.

Red Velvet Pancakes:

1 1/2 C. Buttermilk

4  Eggs

4 Tbsp. Butter, melted

1 tsp. Vanilla

2 Tbsp. Red Food Coloring

2 C. Flour

2 Tbsp. Cocoa

1/3 cup Sugar

2 tsp. Baking Powder

1/2 tsp. Baking Soda

1 tsp. Salt

 Buttermilk Syrup:

 1 C Butter

1 C Buttermilk

2 C Sugar

2 T Vanilla

1 t Baking Soda

Directions

For the pancakes, mix together dry ingredients and set aside. Melt butter in separate bowl, then add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and food coloring. Blend well. Pour in dry mixture and beat until smooth.

Pour ½ cup of the whipped batter on a greased skillet. Pan fry on medium heat until browned. Flip over and brown again. Top with desired toppings and serve warm.

(To make a heart shaped pancake (optional), place a heart shaped cookie cutter on the skillet, and pour batter into the cookie cutter. Remove form before flipping.)

Make the syrup by bringing the first three ingredients to a boil and boil for one minute, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and add vanilla and baking soda.  Stir and Serve.

*Optional toppings include syrup, butter, whipping cream, and shaved chocolate.

Ring in Your New Year with Styled by Tori Spelling

2 · Dec 28, 2012 · 3 Comments

Nothing rings in the New Year better than a little glam! As I was thinking about my New Year’s make over for my Winter White Wreath, I thought some Styled by Tori Spelling goodies would be perfect to dress up my wreath and get her ready for the party!

New Years Wreath by WhipperBerry with Styled by Tori #toristyle

She dresses up pretty well don’t you think?  I created a New Years banner out of paper and some of my Martha Stewart gold glitter. I used my Silhouette Portrait to make the black letters out of paper for the banner.

If you follow me on Instagram you saw my craft fail with the banner… I managed to regroup and came up with something much better than my original idea.

Once the banner was made I pinned a gold 3 layer necklace bottom from the Styled by Tori line onto the wreath with just a couple of straight pins, to dress her up for the celebration. Now she needs a couple of friends to join her for the party.

Styled by Tori Candles #toristyle

These are so easy to make. The first one, I just tied a glam dangler onto the candle with a little black ribbon. The other one I used one of the connectors to attach another gold dangler to a fun pendant  and then attached it to the candle with a little dab of hot glue.  It took five minutes to give these candles a little glam makeover… That’s it! I added a few more items to the group to round out the display…

I made a simple sign for 2013 and used a fabulous frame and mirror, both from Target to round out the collection.  I had fun playing with the frame while taking pictures…

Merry Christmas

1 · Dec 23, 2012 · 4 Comments

This week has been and odd week, I’ve been a little quiet for a number of reasons. Some of them technical, computer and site issues… Others have been this wonderful season we have to share with our family and friends at this time of year. In light of recent events here in our country in the last week or so, I’ve decided to take this time to spend with my family. I don’t want to miss any minute with my kiddos and my sweet husband at this magical time of the year.  I have decided to take the next couple of weeks off while my kiddos are out of school and enjoy time with them. I will still pop in a few times with a couple of posts here and there and, I will be on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram but, for the most part I am going to be spending time with my little family.

I want to send my holiday wishes to you all, I hope you have a wonderful, magical Christmas and enjoy some time with your family and friends. If your heart is hurting or sad at this time of year I send my love and prayers that your burdens will be lifted and that happiness will find it’s way back into your life. I am so grateful for the time you spend with me each and everyday. I know that time is precious and I am so grateful that you choose to say hello and spend a few minutes with me and my crazy, creative world. I look forward to spending more time together in 2013 and can’t wait to share some fun new idea with you.

Merry Christmas and I will see you all in 2013!!

Santa Candy Jar with Styled by Tori Spelling

Looking for a quick last minute Christmas goodie for your friends, neighbors or teachers… Here’s a cutie last minute gift a Santa Candy Jar, that’s high on wow with Styled by Tori Spelling and yet, super easy to make!

Santa Candy Jar with Styled by Tori from WhipperBerry #toristyle #christmas #giftsinajar

I’m always looking for fun and easy gifts for those special people in my life and this one is too cute. Here is what you need to make this fun candy jar…

Supply List

  • Large Mason jar
  • Krylon Cherry Red Gloss spray paint
  • 1 1/2 inch black ribbon
  • Styled by Tori Glitz Pendant
  • White yarn
  • Clover Pom-Pom maker
  • Hot glue

Instructions

First thing you need to do is paint the lid of your jar with the Krylon Cherry Red Gloss…

Krylon Cherry Red Spray Paint

I wrapped the jar in a plastic grocery sack and then screwed the lid on, right on top of the bag.  It was perfect! Then I sprayed the lid with slow even strokes using my spray paint trigger. Let the lid dry for a few hours. It will be “dry” after about 10 minutes or so, but will need time to cure.

While you are waiting for the paint to dry, you can make the pom pom for the top of the lid. I used a few different types of white yarn and some Divine Twine bakers twine to tie it off for mine…

How to make a pom pom

I used the handy Clover Pom-Pom maker to make the perfect pom for the top of Santa’s hat. If you haven’t used the Pom-Pom maker before you should check out this video on how to use them.  They are fabulous!!

Next, I measured out my ribbon and and prepared my pendant…

Styled by Tori Christmas Gift

If you want your pendant to lay totally flat, you will need to take some needle nose pliers and with a little muscle, break off the hook on the back of the pendant. Then use your hot glue gun to glue the ribbon onto the jar along with Santa’s belt buckle (the Styled by Tori Pendant.)

Now, all you have to do is top of the “hat” with the pom-pom. Tack it down with a little bit of hot glue and you are good to go.  Fill the jar with some red candy and your Santa Candy Jar is good to go.  Include a nice little note and your friends will adore you!

It’s so pretty, you may find that it stays out for display for the entire season!
