The Friday Flair was fantastic this week, and it was so hard to choose our favorites! But here are a few:

Speckled Marshmallow Eggs

0 · Apr 14, 2011 · 32 Comments

WB 052 copy

I was at the store this morning at 5 o’crazy clock in the morning (don’t ask, yes I know it was too early, but I was rockin’ my Vintage Rose Wrap, so all was right with the world),  and I found these little gems as they were gently screaming my name…

WB 036

“Heather we are destined to be on WhipperBerry, you must buy us and make us into something special.”  Well, when a marshmallow talks to you… YOU LISTEN!!

So they came home with me and I thought and thought, what could we do with them to make them “special.”  And then it hit me, I LOVE speckled eggs, why not make my lovely EggMallows speckled!

I melted 1/3 cup of chocolate chips and added about 1 tsp. of vegetable oil to thin it out—and then, check out what I did…

WB 040

I had my sweet husband stop at the store on the way home and get a brand spankin’ new toothbrush, and I commenced the speckling!!  I found that dipping the toothbrush into the melted chocolate, and rubbing it with a wooden skewer would produce the lovely speckled effect I was looking for.

By the way, my darling Little One posed in the pictures for me.  I do not sport silver nail polish, nor are my nails bitten down to the quick!!  Thanks my darling!!

WB 023

Aren’t they fun?!  Let them sit for a little while for the chocolate to solidify and then you are in business!

Now to keep it real, here is what was happening behind the scenes while I was working on these little lovelies…

WB 004

Yes, this is what happens when you give a one year old a marshmallow to keep him happy for a few minutes while you work!

WB 018

Shhhhh, don’t tell Mom what I am doing!!  I even have it in my HAIR!!

WB 020  WB 021  WB 022

Oh, but I am toooo darn cute.  She won’t mind!!

WB 014

Gotta say, not too sure if I am liking this myself anymore!

Spring Ruffle Wreath {Tutorial}

1 · Apr 13, 2011 · 23 Comments

Ruffle Wreath

Spring is in the air here in Tulsa. The grass is turning green, the trees and flowers are starting to blossom, and the temperature is warming up. So, I thought it was time to get out with the old, and into a new season, with a Spring wreath.

What you will need:

Ruffle Wreath Supplies

-Plastifoam Wreath

-Burlap Ribbon

-Straight Pins

-Bird Template

-Raffia

-2 small pieces of burlap

-fabric choice ~1/2 yard

-small amount of batting

-button

First of all, I decided I wanted ruffles for this wreath. I had roughly ½ yard of fabric. I cut the fabric into 2 inch strips. I ended up with a total of 8 strips. Next, I proceeded to lengthen my machine stitch to the longest setting and sewed a straight line down the middle of the strips. This is where the magic begins: Ruffles! Carefully pull the bobbin thread gathering the cloth. When you have achieved the desired ruffle, tie the thread pieces together so the ruffles do not come unraveled.

Now that you have your ruffled strips of fabric, you are ready to wrap them around the Plastifoam wreath. I chose to pin the ruffles in the foam instead of gluing. We all know those things are pricey and I’m going to reuse my wreath for a future project.

WhipperBerry Ruffle Wreath

For my bird template, I just did a Google search. I printed, and cut out, my desired template. Now trace the bird onto the small pieces of burlap. Cut those out together. Stitch, or sew, the two birds together, leaving a small opening to add the batting for your puffy birdie. After adding the batting, stitch it closed, and add your button on for the eye.

Burlap Bird

Now we need to hang the bird. I used the raffia to hang the bird from the wreath, with a small stitch to the back of the bird—then a knot (with a pin through it) to attach to the wreath.

Spring Ruffle Wreath

To hang the wreath from my door hook, I used burlap ribbon. Have I mentioned I LOVE burlap?! And there you have it friends. My Spring wreath with a little birdie. I love Spring!!

Creative Estates… A Neighborhood Worth its Weight in GOLD

0 · Apr 12, 2011 · 14 Comments

creative estates2

Have you ever dreamed of moving into a neighborhood with all of your closest friends and family?  People who GET you, know how you tick, and what makes your heart skip a beat?  That is what Creative Estates is all about.  Emily, Danielle, and myself traveled to Phoenix to attend this amazing conference with some of the most amazingly talented women I have ever met!

WB 111

Be still my heart… yes, this is Shelly from House of Smith’s!!  She absolutely made my whole life when I introduced myself and she squealed with delight when I told her that we were from WhipperBerry. Shelly, my dear, you are fabulous!!  And yes, I too rock the ellipses… all you grammar snobs out there please just indulge me.

WB 117

This is our sweet friend, Jen, from Tatertots & Jell-o… dare I say mentor?  Jen has been such a support to WhipperBerry and we LOVE her.

WB 115

And here is Lara {aka Ellie G} from Less Cake {More Frosting}, our BFF in the blog world. What can we say about this amazing lady?  You have to check out her blog if you haven’t already!

WB 095

Amy from The Idea Room… what an inspiration!!  Please ignore the terrible picture of me, isn’t she beautiful?

WB 096

Sweet Jamielyn from I {Heart} Naptime, and Leanne from Decorate and Organize Everything, and our fabulous Emily.

WB 113

And, the Incredible Char from Crap I’ve Made—we LOVE her!!  We could go on and on and on.  The weekend started with a lovely “Cocktails and Cupcakes” party, featuring an unbelievable dessert table styled by TomKat herself.  You would’ve thought I would take a picture… but no,  I was a little star struck.  SORRY!  You can see one here at Jamielyn’s blog, I {Heart} Naptime.

The next two days were filled with classes, panels, and crafting {this was a creative conference!}

We were delighted by the talented and HILARIOUS Shelly, Char, and Stephanie (from The Daily Blarg)…

WB 121

We crafted with Miss Whippy Cake herself, Becki Crosby!

WB 146

Look what I made…

WB 155

Not exactly genius I know… I was more interested in hanging out with my new friends and Becki’s bag!!

WB 174  WB 085

Isn’t it cute?! {Stalkerish I know, I can’t help myself} Emily, Danielle, and I had a BALL and can’t wait for next year!!  A huge thanks goes out to SheyB {the camera strap girl}, and Tauni {the PR genius} for putting on an amazing conference.  For more pics you can check out our album on our Facebook page to see even more of the fun, and some of the other amazing ladies that we met.
