Gift Giving with Styled by Tori Spelling

1 · Jan 30, 2013 · 3 Comments

Gift Jar with Styled by Tori Spelling Key Chain // Hello my friends!  We're running slow today with another snow day here in Lincoln. Can't complain at all in my book. Snow days are the BEST!!!! We've settled down with a Harry Potter marathon and I, of course had to do a little creating on the side. With Valentine's day around the corner I thought it would be fun to make some simple little gifts for teachers and such with some of my favorite Styled by Tori Spelling goodies…

Gift Giving with Styled by Tori and WhipperBerry

I thought it would be fun to create a gift jar (of course) and make a little key chain for my daughters teacher this year. For the jar I just took a little 4 oz. jelly jar and cut some craft paper to fit the lid and glued on a gem flower from Styled by Tori on top…

Creating a gift jar with Styled by Tori

Toss in some coordinating tissue paper and you have a simple yet beautiful little gift jar. Couldn't be any easier than that. The jar, quite frankly is also part of the gift. The person who receives it will be able to use it to store little items in and they will adore it!!

Next, I created a fun peacock key chain for the "gift" in the pretty jar…

This one is super simple as well. I found this lovely peacock charm from the Styled by Tori line and then I bought a nice clip to attach to it to make the key chain…

key chain components

You may need to use some needle nose pliers to open the ring up a bit to attach the clasp and peacock. Close the ring and voila, you have a fancy new key chain…

Many of the Styled by Tori charms will work perfect to make a fun decorative key chain. Next, all you need to do is to attach your key ring with your keys and you are in business. I always like to have little clip on my keys so I don't lose them in my bag, so that was a must!

Won't this be a fun little gift for teachers or friends for Valentine's Day, teacher appreciation,  mother's day, birthdays, anything really. You can make up a bunch and keep them in your gift stash and always be ready with a fun gift at hand.

Heart Attack // HUGE Valentine’s Day Link Party

11 · Jan 28, 2013 · 49 Comments

WhipperBerry's Printable Heart Attack // Typically a "heart attack" isn't a good thing… but, not in this case! This Heart Attack is a fun way to show your friends and family that you A*D*O*R*E them.

Heart Attack Printable by WhipperBerry

My girls have been participating in "Heart Attacks" for years. They would cut out a bunch of hearts and tape them on someone's door to tell them that they love them, it also has a fun door bell ditch element to it. I thought I would kick it up a notch and create some fun heart printables for the event. You can choose to use them however you like, but here are a few ideas…

  1. Cut out the hearts and write little notes to your loved ones on the back and leave them in special places during the month of February.
  2. Prepare the hearts and tape to a friend or loved one's door and door bell ditch them.
  3. Prepare the hearts by using a glue dot to attach candy to the back and place in a jar with my printable label for your lucky heart attack friend or loved one, and leave them on their door step with a door bell ditch.
  4. Go into full on ATTACK mode, make some goodies and along with your sweet little heart attack hearts start a HEART ATTACK in your neighborhood!

I chose to make a fun Heart Attack Jar…

How fun is that? I attached the free printable label to the jar, wrapped the lid with some washi tape, added a baker's twine bow and that's it! All there is left to do is leave it on my neighbor's door step and the attack will be complete. The kits also has a door sign that let's people know that you've been Heart Attacked and a list of instructions to tell people how they can keep this Heart Attack going.

Bird Seed Winter Wreath // Tutorial

22 · Jan 21, 2013 · 12 Comments

Bird Seed Winter Wreath // One of my favorite things to do since moving to Nebraska is watching the colorful birds outside my window. Las Vegas isn't really  known has a habitat for pretty birds so I've missed them for several years. Here in Lincoln we have Blue Jays and every once in a while we even have a red Cardinal or two and I adore them! Over the Christmas break my girls and I were thinking of fun things to do and Hannah thought it would be fun to make some type of bird feeder for the birds during these cold months. I thought it would be fun to make a bird seed winter wreath.

Supplies Needed

  • Foam wreath form
  • Fabric strips
  • 2-3 push pins
  • 1 jar peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • Parchment paper
  • Bird seed mixture of your choice

Instructions

I happened to have a foam wreath form on hand so we decided to us it, but I was worried about the birds pecking at the styrofoam. We decided that we would wrap the wreath with strips of fabric to protect the birds.

wreath form and fabric strips

The girls and I cut some scrap fabric into 2 1/2 to 3 inch wide strips and wrapped the wreath with them and secured the fabric with some push pins. Next we made a peanut butter and honey concoction. We took one small jar of honey and mixed it with about 1/2 a cup of honey.

The girls and I then place our wreath form on several pieces of parchment paper and started to cover the wreath with the peanut butter spread…

… and then the bird seed.

generosly add bird seed to the wreath

We found the parchment paper quite helpful when we were placing the bird seed on the sides of the wreath. Once we were finished we place the wreath outside in the cold garage to let it set a bit. Then after a couple of days we added a burlap bow and placed it out in our yard so that the birds could enjoy a little winter treat!

What are some fun winter activites that you like to do with your kiddos? We're actually having a ball living in a place with a real winter so we would LOVE some new ideas!
