Jack-o-Lantern Juice Halloween Treat with GiftGloss

9 · Oct 23, 2012 · 10 Comments

It’s time to get out your GiftGloss from the FoofQueens for some Halloween fun!!  I know everyone is looking for some fun goodie ideas for their upcoming Halloween parties and I have a cute idea for you today…

Jack-o-Lantern Juice

How about some tasty Jack-o-Lantern Juice in a cute little GiftGloss sleeve? All you have to do is find some orange soda bottles and remove the label. I used my Silhouette CAMEO (I have a great deal on those to if you need one too!) to cut out some vinyl jack-o-lantern faces and then placed them on the bottles… super EASY! Fill it with some sweet candy corn or your favorite little candies along with a matching black & white  straw from Susty Party and you’ll have the cutest little party treat on the block!!

What makes GiftGloss different that just your normal bag? GiftGloss is the original slide’n’tie sleeve… you get to decide how long your sleeve is!!!  All you have to do is select what size sleeve you would like to use.

WB-009

GiftGloss comes in two widths, 6 inches and 12 inches and with the handy dispenser it’s super easy to measure out your desired length, slide the  cutting tool across the dispenser and voila, you have the perfect treat sleeve! GiftGloss is food grade, so it’s perfect for all your spooky treats for family and friends this Halloween season.

I have made several projects over the last year and packaged them with GiftGloss and everyone is always WOW’d with the presentation!

The Most Amazing Ombre Whopper Cake /// Autumn Inspiration

15 · Oct 22, 2012 · 17 Comments

Today was my sweet Husband’s birthday and of course in true WhipperBerry fashion I had to make him a fabulous cake for his special day. I asked him what he would like and his one request was for, “one of those Whopper cakes with your Amazing Chocolate Cake recipe.”  What can I say, the man has good taste! Here we have it… as my spunky daughter decided to name it, The Whipper Whopper Cake!

Ombre Whopper Cake from WhipperBerry #cake #baking #ombre #dessert

This is not a new cake or a new concept at all. As a matter of fact my sweet friend Michael from Inspired by Charm made the most stunning Strawberry Malt Ball Cake that I just LOVE!  I needed to put my own spin on it.  With our move to Nebraska from the desert of Las Vegas, our family is falling in LOVE with Autumn all over again.  The colors, the crisp feel to the air, hazy days and foggy mornings are something we missed for the last several years.  I thought, since Mike’s birthday is in October, why not make a Whopper Cake with a little bit of Autumn flair.  Using Duff Goldman’s Gold Cake Graffiti, I gave the cake a bit of an ombre look, by spraying the top half of the cake gold.

Whopper Cake

I also found some fall leaves out in our yard to decorate the table with.  I lightly sprayed them with the Gold Cake Graffiti as well to class up the rustic look.

Autumn Whopper Cake

Recipe

I used the same cake and frosting recipe from my Most Amazing Chocolate Cake post from a few years ago.  It’s a classic cake and chocolate buttercream that can be reinvented in soooo many ways. Luckily we have some new friends here in Lincoln that we can share this cake with because it is a rich one that is meant to be shared.

Tips for Cake Assembly

  • Freeze your cake after it cools to create a firm surface to work with when putting the cake together.
  • Make sure the frosting is a good stiff frosting that will hold those lovely Whoppers in place.
  • Place some bamboo skewers into the cake before you frost it to give it a little help in the stability department.
  • Once the cake is assembled, place in the refrigerator for an hour or so to firm up the frosting and hold tight to the Whoppers.
Ready for a little bit of autumn love from my backyard.  These are the things that a girl who just moved from the desert just relishes…

Gold Leaves

I just can’t get enough of the fall colors, they are just making my world so happy right now.  I was photographing the cake outside and just looked up and to a picture.  Here it is in all it’s simple glory.

I love watching my children fall in love with a new season that most of them haven’t ever really experienced.  While I was engrossed with taking pictures of the cake, my spunky Emily was out playing in the yard and came running over to me to share her most amazing discovery. Of course I had to stop what I was doing so that I could come over and photograph it for her…

Fall Mist

Today had been a bit of a gray misty day and she was just aaaamazed to find spider webs in the grass with little rain drops dotting their surface. Ahhhhh, I love when my kiddos can find the little beauties in nature that we as grown-ups sometimes pass on by. Of course I had to take a picture and Em insisted that I share it with all of you. What’s your favorite hidden gem? What makes fall magical for you? On a sweeter note, what’s your favorite go to cake recipe? What makes your special days, even more special?

Friday Flair Link Party /// Black Velvet Edition

0 · Oct 18, 2012 · 53 Comments

Eeeeek, it’s time for FRIDAY FLAIR!!! I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed Friday Flair over the past few weeks.  I know that I said that I would come back way before this but, let’s just say… the move didn’t really go as planned.

Word of caution, don’t EVER rent a house sight unseen. Yes, I know that should go without saying. I thought things would go alright, I like to think the best of people, I had good vibes and I was wrong.  We arrived and the place was a disaster. I know it’s totally our fault for not taking the time to come out here to hunt for a house in person, but quite frankly, we just didn’t have the time.  Lesson learned… Won’t do that again!  We are making the best of things and counting down the days until our lease is up.  With this being our very first rental experience we are a little freaked out. But enough about me…

Here’s this weeks inspiration photo from Food Plus Words. Check out this BLACK Velvet Cake…

Time for Friday Flair!!

Origami Owl Giveaway on WhipperBerry copy

Have you heard of Origami Owl? It’s this great new company started by a FOURTEEN year old back in 2010. Isabella the founder of Origami Owl, came up with the idea to create see through lockets that people could customize to tell their story. BRILLIANT!! I wish I was that smart at fourteen.

Armed with great taste and $350 of her babysitting money that was matched by her parents, Isabelle set out to raise enough money to purchase a car when she turned 16.  Little did she know that within two years, with help from her family, she has taken her fabulous idea and turned it into a thriving business. After a successful year with a mall kiosk, Isabella and her mother decided it would be more fun to take it the direct sales route. That way mothers and daughters can work together creating fun at home parties to share this fabulous product with their friends.

Tami sent me this beautiful locket that I had the opportunity to customize myself, and I LOVE it!! First of all, it doesn’t feel cheap at all.  I’ve purchased jewelry from some other direct sales companies (who shall remain nameless) and once I received them, they felt like poorly made costume jewelry.  I HATE that!! You’re paying high prices for really LOW quality items.  Not with Origami Owl!

Origami Owl Design

I selected the type of locket and chain that I wanted, then I had fun picking out the fun little items to put in the locket.  These are the little trinkets that tell your story.  I chose birthstones for my four kiddos, and the Eiffel Tower and sand dollar to remember some fabulous family trips that we’ve taken together. I capped it off with a hand stamped plate to place inside the locket that says “Love Life” a great daily reminder.

Origami Owl Elements

The great thing is that I can continue to customize it as I want. The locket isn’t sealed so you can change things out as you like.  I love it!! To top it off they come in a cute little take-out container that I just adore…

Now for the goodies…Tami is offering one of you lucky guys a chance to win $50 worth of shop credit to her Origami Owl online shop!!  All you have to do is follow the directions in the Rafflecopter box below…

Also, don’t forget to enter this week’s Silhouette CAMEO giveaway, you won’t want to miss that and the fun deals for this month, and… Friday Flair is returning TONIGHT!! You won’t want to miss that!!
