Roasted Garlic and Roma Tomato Sauce + an Easy Shakshuka Recipe

36 · Aug 22, 2018 · Leave a Comment

This post is brought to you by Ball® Fresh Preserving Products by Newell Brands

Ahhhhh, tomato season… You’re finally here! When I was a little girl, tacos were not tacos if they weren’t topped with diced tomatoes, a sandwich simply could not be a true sandwich without a slice of tomato inside and don’t even get me started on burgers. You either love them or hate them but, I’m firmly in the LOVE those beautiful tomatoes camp. I was recently introduced to a simple Roasted Garlic and Roma tomato sauce recipe from Ball® Fresh Preserving that I have been dying to try. I knew it was going to be a GREAT base for my favorite Israeli Shakshuka dish and boy was I right. Come to learn how to make this fabulous sauce for your family. I was recently introduced to a simple Roasted Garlic and Roma tomato sauce recipe from Ball® Fresh Preserving that I have been dying to try. I knew it was going to be a GREAT base for my favorite Israeli Shakshuka dish and boy was I right. Come learn how to make this fabulous sauce for your family.

How to Know if Your Recipe is Safe for Preserving

You know what excites me about this sauce? I know exactly what has been added to it because I made it myself. I’ve cut sugar out of my diet and I’ve been blown away about how much sugar is added to most commercially prepared tomato sauces. It really gives me peace of mind when I make things from scratch using tested recipes from Ball® Canning.  When you use official recipes from Ball® you know that they have the highest standards for food safety and if followed to the “T”,  you will have a great end product. You can find all kinds of recipes on their website plus, they have several books that cover the ins & outs of preserving available on their site, Amazon, and other book retailers.  When it comes to things like preserving, you don’t want to take chances with recipes that have not been tested and approved. They can make your family terribly sick. Stay safe, and stick with the leaders in the preserving industry, Ball® Fresh Preserving.

Sauce Making Day

To me, canning is a social activity. When we would can as kids the whole family would gather in the kitchen with the music turned up and we would spend the entire day canning batch after batch of peaches, pears, elderberry jam & crabapple jelly. Sometimes, my Mom’s friends would come over and spend the day working the fruit and enjoying some girl talk.

I knew that when I was going to make this sauce, I wanted to invite a friend over so that we could work together and enjoy some idle chit-chat. That’s the real secret ingredient to anything preserved. Not only are you preserving the food but, you are also preserving precious memories!

Funny enough, my friend’s name is also Heather and together we make quite the crew. Heather and I grabbed our supplies and prepared to start, “Sauce Day!” Here is what you will need to have a successful sauce day yourself.

  • A nice clean kitchen – this is a must when canning. Because of the nature of preserving and the fact that the food will be stored unrefrigerated for up to a year, you must have a good clean working space sat you don’t risk introducing unwanted bacteria into your sauce.
  • Ball® canning jars – This recipe calls for quart jars and I opted for my new favorite quart sized Sharing Jars.
  • Water Bath Canner – This sauce uses the type of canning method called water bath canning. Therefore you will need some type of water bath to process your jars of sauce.  If you have a gas stove top or an electric stove stop that has the electric coils, you will be able to use a large pot with a rack and a lid to process your jars of sauce.
  • Important: If you have a glass top electric range,
        • First check with the manufacture of the stove.

i.      If it’s safe for home canning then,

        1. Ensure that your canner has a completely flat bottom that comes in contact with the heating element.
        2. Ensure that the canner does not exceed the burner by more than one inch around.
        3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFUyaBFrcYU

ii.      If not, then you will need to use the Electric Water Bath Canner.

  • Clean towels – This is a must when canning. You will be using towels to set your processed jars on and for wiping the rims of your jars. Not to mention keeping your hands tidy during the prep process. Have a good supply of clean cotton and terry cloth kitchen towels on hand for sauce day.
  • Canning tools – These are the must-have tools when canning,
  • Jar Funnel: Place in mouth of the jar to fill without spilling I was recently introduced to a simple Roasted Garlic and Roma tomato sauce recipe from Ball® Fresh Preserving that I have been dying to try. I knew it was going to be a GREAT base for my favorite Israeli Shakshuka dish and boy was I right. Come learn how to make this fabulous sauce for your family.
  • Jar Lifter: Safely lift jars out of hot water with the green gripping end
  • Bubble Remover & Headspace Tool: Slide into the side of filled jar to release air bubbles and measure headspace I was recently introduced to a simple Roasted Garlic and Roma tomato sauce recipe from Ball® Fresh Preserving that I have been dying to try. I knew it was going to be a GREAT base for my favorite Israeli Shakshuka dish and boy was I right. Come learn how to make this fabulous sauce for your family.
  • Roasting supplies – for this recipe we will be roasting our garlic and tomatoes before we get started so, there are a few items that you will need for that,
    • baking sheets
    • parchment paper
    • aluminum foil

How to Use your AAAMAZING Sauce

Now, here’s the fun part… Cooking with your fantastic sauce. First off, I should have doubled the recipe on sauce day. The recipe makes approximately 3 quarts of sauce. Mine really only made 2 quarts and a pint.  After I sent one quart home with my friend, I only had 1 quart and 1 pint to use. Note to self,  always make 2-3 batches when making this great sauce.

Also, this is a GREAT gift for the holidays, housewarming, new baby… The list goes on and on. I LOVE the new Ball® Sharing Jars, they are so elegant and designed perfectly for adding a ribbon or gift tag right at the top, I adore them!

This sauce would be fantastic on its own just over some pasta but, I thought it would be perfect for Shakshuka!

Shakshuka is a wonderful recipe that I was introduced to while traveling in Israel.  It is a very common dish there served any time of day. It’s a scrumptious tomato sauce filled with all kinds of earthy spices, herbs, onions & peppers. You top it off with some eggs and then serve right out of the pan with flatbread or a good crusty loaf of bread.  This is the Shakshuka that we ate in Jaffa, Israel and the fun outdoor restaurant where we enjoyed this dish.

With the Roasted Garlic and Roma Tomato Sauce as our starting point, it already has the tomatoes, onions, garlic & herbs, all we need to add is the all-important spices & some peppers.

Italian Soda Bar Menu Created with Cricut EasyPress 2

30 · Aug 15, 2018 · Leave a Comment

You guys, I’m so excited! I’ve been madly working on a fun project this summer… Creating for my oldest daughter’s wedding. Seriously, there is nothing more fun than to create for a wedding. One thing that is needed when creating for a wedding are LARGE scale displays, that’s how to create WOW factor. Anyone can create small scale stuff but, when you have the tools to create something larger than life, that’s when things go from typical to magical! I’ve been creating with my Cricut machines for years and with my inaugural Cricut EasyPress for over a year now but, I’m excited to introduce you to the Large Cricut EasyPress 2… A true makers dream! I’ve used the NEW Large Cricut EasyPress 2 to create a huge canvas sign for Haley’s wedding reception. We are going to have an Italian soda bar and I wanted to create a larger than life menu to place next to the bar. Here she is… Let me show you how to make this large scale canvas sign!

+ This post brought to you by the talented folks at Cricut +

THE ITALIAN SODA BAR Menu

Early on in our wedding planning, Haley expressed that she would love to have an Italian Soda Bar as one of the elements to the reception. I was totally on board because I LOVE Italian sodas. If you aren’t familiar with an Italian soda, it’s a sparkling water with some added syrup and possibly added creamer or half & half depending on your taste. They are super scrumptious and fun to play around with.

I thought it would be a great idea to create a stylish life-size menu to place next to the soda bar to draw peoples attention to our drink options at the reception. I, of course, turned to my favorite creative tools, my Cricut Maker and the NEW Large Cricut EasyPress 2! I loaded up an arm full of Cricut Everyday Iron-On™in black and set to work.

The Cricut EasyPress 2

What makes the EasyPress so cool? Well… First of all, the original EasyPress is still a total rockstar and will work just perfect for this project as well if you already have one. If you don’t already own an EasyPress, you love the features on the THREE NEW EasyPress 2 machines…

  • Three unique sizes (6×7, 9×9, and 12×10) to suit every project you can dream up
  • Professional iron-on success in 60 seconds or less
  • Easy to learn and simple to use
  • Ceramic-coated heat plate means dry, even heat for flawless transfers
  • Faster heat-up time
  • Precise temperature control up to 400˚ F (The old EasyPress only goes to 350˚)
  • Insulated, streamlined Safety Base keeps EP2 in protected resting position while also protecting the pressing surface
  • Easy to read digital display
  • Scrumptious raspberry color
  • USB port for firmware updates

The Design

I created my design in Cricut Design Space…

You can use my exact design by clicking HERE and heading to Cricut Design Space

Then measured the “secret” material that I was going to use. It is 4 feet wide, so I then sized it appropriately within the software so that it would cut at the right size. Because of the size of the design, I knew that I was going to have to piece some things together like the underline in the title but, that wasn’t an issue at all.

Large Canvas Sign Supplies

Large Canvas Sign Supplies • WhipperBerry
  • Cricut cutting machine – I used the Cricut Maker
  • 12×24 light grip cutting mat
  • EasyPress Protective Mat
  • Cricut EasyPress 2 – large with the 10×12 plate
  • Cricut Everyday Iron-On – black, I used 10 rolls for this project
  • EasyPress Mat 12×60
  • canvas drop cloth – I found a 4 ft wide drop cloth at Home Depot for about $9
  • 2 wood dowels
  • 1 1/2 yards cotton rope

That’s right, I used a DROP CLOTH as my canvas for this life-sized menu sign and it turned out great. What I am loving more than anything is the NEW Cricut EasyPress 2, especially for a project of this size.

The NEW @cricut Easy Press 2 with the large 10x12 inch plate. Great for large scale projects • WhipperBerry

This menu sign is as tall as I am! Having the large EasyPress 2 made all of the difference. Not to mention the improved design and heat plate. This new EasyPress is a dream! I’ve longed for days when I could easily and cost-effectively made large-scale projects like this without spending an arm and a leg, I love how Cricut works to understand what makers are looking for and then work their little behinds off to create tools that are inspired by US!

Instructions

Now, this project may seem daunting, it’s really not. It’s your typical sign making but, on a larger scale. You have to click on my Italian Soda Bar sign in Design Space and then size it to the size you would like your sign to be. This is the beauty of design space. We can easily share projects and then customize it for our needs. Then, all you need to do is click the MAKE IT button. Design Space does all of the work when it comes to making sure you don’t waste your precious Everyday Iron-On material by placing your welded groups into sections that utilize the materials the most efficient way.

IMPORTANT | Make sure that BEFORE you cut your vinyl you select the MIRROR button when preparing your cutting mats for final cutting.

Here’s how to make your Italian Soda Bar sign,

  • Cut Everyday Iron-On Material on Cricut Maker or Explore Air 2 machine. DON’T FORGET TO MIRROR YOUR IMAGES.
  • Your sign will be jumbled up a little bit on your cutting mats but, don’t worry. You will cut them into sections after you weed the iron-on and place them on your drop cloth in the right order.
  • Weed material. This means to remove the excess iron-on material around your words to then discard. Make sure to weed carefully so that you don’t remove or tear any letters or numbers. You also want to make sure that you don’t accidentally remove punctuation and those little dots on top of the “i” and other letters.
  • Prepare your drop cloth. Layout your drop cloth on a large flat surface and make sure it is wrinkle free and ready to go.  TIP | Use the EasyPress to iron your drop cloth to prepare it to add the Everyday Iron-On™.
  • Cut and arrange your sign sections on your drop cloth. Now, I did this a little bit at a time starting with the title once I had the title pressed then I move down and work on another smaller section.
  • Measure – Now, I’m not really a measuring type of person but, (I should be) if eyeballing isn’t your thing. You may want to take out your measuring tape and to make sure everything is lined up appropriately.
HUGE Canvas Italian Soda Bar Menu Sign create with my favorite Cricut Maker & the NEW Cricut Large Easy Press 2 • WhipperBerry
  • Turn-on your EasyPress 2 and set it to the following settings,
    • 340°F / 171°C
    • Pre-heat your surface: 5 sec
    • Press: 60 sec
    • Warm Peel (leave for 30-60 seconds and then gently peel)
  • Place the EasyPress Mat under the first section to press and cover with the protective cover and press the 1st section according to the guidelines above.
  • Repeat for the remaining sections.
HUGE Canvas Italian Soda Bar Menu Sign create with my favorite Cricut Maker & the NEW Cricut Large Easy Press 2 • WhipperBerry

The Cricut EasyPress 2 will be available this Fall from Cricut. What HUGE project would you like to make with an EP2? Stay tuned I have all kinds of goodies that I’m working on for the wedding that are going to look amazing thanks to the EP2.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

A Boy and His New Beddy’s Bed

11 · Aug 2, 2018 · 1 Comment

We’re getting ready for school here in these parts. With that comes the resurrection of old routines whether good or bad. Some routines stand the test of time like brushing your teeth, getting dressed and such. Others like making the bed could stand for a little improvement! Let’s be real here… How many of our kiddos or, us even, regularly make our beds? When the back-to-school routines truly kick-in, how many of our kiddos are skipping this one task because it’s just a pain and they would rather move on to bigger and better things? I have one little guy that generally skips this task or takes FOREVER making his bed thus making us late for school each morning. Anyone else in this boat? Yea, I thought so! That’s when I was introduced to Beddy’s Beds by a good friend of mine and my little guy has been using his new bedding all summer and we are super in love with this whole system!!! Come learn all about Beddy’s along with this fun room makeover for Gage.

+ This post brought to you by Beddy’s Beds +Our mornings & nights have been transformed with our favorite new bedding from Beddy's! They look fabulous in my little guy's new adventure room! | WhipperBerry | #childrensbedding #kidsrooms #beddys @beddys #kidsbedding #boysroom #boysroommakeover

Boys Room Makeover

SEVERAL months ago we embarked on a room makeover for our little guy. He had been living in a pink and purple room since our move last year and it was high time to make some changes. An eight-year-old boy will put up with a pink room for only so long. We don’t even know Ashley & Alexa and why they even had an attic!

Easily transform a room by decoupaging paper onto the walls. Easy to install with @decoart Decor-Page matte medium. Vintage little boys adventure room created by WhipperBerry

We settled on an Explorer room packed full with all kinds of great inspiration to explore our world. We found an old discarded library book that was filled with copies of the maps from the Lewis & Clark expedition. The library was just throwing it out! We pulled it apart and Decoupaged the pages onto Gage’s wall.

My little guy's new adventure room! | WhipperBerry | #childrensbedding #kidsrooms #beddys @beddys #kidsbedding #boysroom #boysroommakeover

The very last step that needed to be completed was, new bedding! Like I said before… His bed NEVER looks like the photo above. If it is made, it looks like Salvador Dalí made the bed rather than Martha Stewart. Granted, I know… It’s a little boys room but, there has to be something smarter & easier. Check out this video to see the genius of what we found!

The Genius of Beddy’s Bedding

Did you see that? How easy it was for Gage to just zip-up his bed when he got up? This bedding is brilliant! Here are my top 5 reasons why I love Beddy’s bedding…

    1. First off, it’s dang cute! I love the fabric that we selected for Gage’s room. We picked the Checked Out bedding and it looks great in his explorer room. They have all kinds of styles that are perfect for toddlers on up to Mom & Dad, both boys, and girls, along with college-age kiddos. Plus, the options keep expanding each year.
    2. His bed is so easy to make! The bedding is somewhat like a sleeping bag that has a fitted sheet element sewn on the bottom. The whole system fits right onto the bed and grips nicely to the mattress. Now, if you have hot sleepers like Gage is, don’t worry, the top blanket unzips at the bottom if you’d like and down each side, you can even remove the whole top blanket for washing. Gage is a hot sleeper and he likes to keep the side unzipped and then zips it right back up in the morning.
    3. I love that this is a product created by Moms for Moms! You know how Beddy’s came to be? It was out of the frustration of trying to make bunk beds. Have you ever tried to make a bunk bed? It’s impossible even for adults let alone kids. Beddy’s are handmade with fabulous fabric. The top fabric is 100% cotton and the inside is a scrumptious Minky fabric that all kiddos love. Gage has been using his bedding for a few months now and I’m thrilled with the quality of the materials & workmanship. Our mornings & nights have been transformed with our favorite new bedding from Beddy's! They look fabulous in my little guy's new adventure room! | WhipperBerry | #childrensbedding #kidsrooms #beddys @beddys #kidsbedding #boysroom #boysroommakeover
    4. Beddy’s bedding is easy to wash! I’ll be honest, when I first saw a Beddy’s system I thought it looked like a bear to wash. I was so wrong! Gage who struggled to gather all of his bedding on wash days in the past now has no problem stripping his bed and loading it into the washer all by himself.
    5. I love that his product empowers everyone to start their day on the right foot! When I was a kiddo, I received a pillowcase that said, “Start each day in a happy way.” It was actually a Strawberry Shortcake pillowcase. The first morning I used it, I was 6 or 7,  I read the quote and it really hit me. I did need to start each day in a happy way! That morning I felt empowered to make my bed (the old fashioned way) starting my day on the right foot and then moving forward with confidence that I could handle whatever came my way that day. It sounds silly, right? Can making your bed empower you, of course it can. If you aren’t a bed maker, give it a go. Commit to making your bed for a week and see how that little change will change your day. We need to give that gift to our kiddos. A good breakfast and a made bed, that’s a good recipe for a great start to the day!

What are you going to do this new school year to help your kiddos to feel successful right from the start? I highly recommend investing in some Beddy’s bedding for the kiddos. I’m thrilled with how Gage loves his new bedding and how his room looks with the bedding.

+ Disclaimer – This post has been sponsored by Beddy’s Beds. They sent product for my family to review however, I was not paid for my review or for this post. Remeber, I only share what I love and truly use in my everyday life. +

Kosher Dill Pickle and Sausage Rolls

21 · Jul 24, 2018 · 1 Comment

Growing up in my house, one could no more refuse a good dill pickle than one could refuse an ice cream sundae. We were most certainly fans. As kids, my sisters and I would argue over who got to drink the pickle juice at the end of the jar of pickles. Kind of weird, I know! I’m sure we weren’t the only ones with a love of pickles that extended past the pickles themselves. We also had a love of a good sausage paired with our favorite pickles. Naturally, I love to share these fun summer traditions with my family now, all wrapped up together in a tasty dill pickle and sausage rolls.

•  This post is brought to you by Ball® Fresh Preserving Products by Newell Brands  •

Picking the Right Cucumbers for Pickles

I remember as a kid when my Mom would pickle cucumbers, I was always so leery of those poky cucumbers that she assured me would turn into pickles. They sure didn’t look like the cucumbers I was used to. Mom was right of course, a few weeks later her silly looking cucumbers were the best dill pickles I had ever had the chance to eat.

When it comes to pickling cucumbers there are a few different things to keep in mind.

  • The right variety – in all reality any cucumber can be pickled. However, you may not be too thrilled with the results. Small to medium size Kirby cucumbers are typically the best. They have a thicker skin that can stand up to the brine and will remain crunchy after they have been pickled.
  • The right size – the key here is to find cucumbers that are close to the same size. For this recipe, we are looking for a small to medium size that ranges between 3-4 inches. Try to find cucumbers within that size range to have a consistent final product.
  • The right age – Yes, your cucumbers have an age. Too young and thin-skinned, and they will not hold up to the pickling process. Too old, and they’ll have tough, fibrous skin and large, bitter seeds. How can you tell a cucumber’s age? Size is an indicator (again, go for small-medium), and also, taste. If it’s sweet, with a good crunch when you bite into it, it’s a keeper.

Kosher Dill Pickle Recipe

A “kosher” dill pickle is not necessarily kosher in the sense that it has been prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary law. Rather, it is a pickle made in the traditional manner of Jewish New York City pickle makers, with a generous addition of garlic and dill to a natural salt brine.

To me, a kosher dill is exactly what I think of when it comes to a nice crunchy pickle paired with my favorite sandwich. Luckily, it’s also an easy recipe perfect for beginning picklers.

Before you get started, make sure you have 4 of my favorite pint jars from Ball® Canning. I’m loving the new fancy jars that are so fun to share with family and friends.

Kosher Dill Pickles

Yield 4 (16 oz.) pint jars

A classic dill pickle full of robust flavor, this a great place to start if you are new to canning pickles. A pinch of Ball® Pickle Crisp will help keep the crunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ lbs 3-4 inch pickling cucumbers
  • 2- ½ cups water
  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Ball® Salt for Pickling and Preserving
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 small bay leaves
  • 12 dill sprigs
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard seeds
  • 4 small hot peppers (optional)
  • Ball ®Pickle Crisp (optional)

Instructions

  1.   Prepare boiling water canner. Heat jars in simmering water until ready to use, do not boil. Wash lids in warm soapy water and set aside with bands.

  1. Wash cucumbers and hot peppers in cold water. Slice 1/16 of an inch off the blossom end of each cucumber; trim stem ends so cucumbers measure about 3 inches. Cut cucumbers into quarters lengthwise.

  1. Combine water, vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small stainless saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Lower heat to simmer.
  1. Place 1 garlic clove, 3 dill sprigs, ½ tsp mustard seed, 1 bay leaf and 1 red pepper and Ball® Pickle Crisp (if desired) into a hot jar that is sitting on a towel (not directly on the counter.) Pack cucumber spears into the jar, leaving a ½ inch headspace. Trim any cucumbers that are too tall.

  1. Ladle hot brine into a hot jar leaving a ½ inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Wipe jar rim. Center lid on the jar and apply the band, adjust to fingertip tight. Place jar in boiling water canner. Repeat until all jars are filled.

  1.   Process jars 15 minutes, adjusting for altitude. Turn off heat, remove the lid, let jars stand 5 minutes. Remove jars and cool 12-24 hours. Check lids for a seal, they should not flex when the center is pressed.

Kosher Dill Pickle and Sausage Rolls

This is where this simple kosher dill pickle becomes extra scrumptious! I’ve created a cheesy pickle spread that is perfect for the inside of the sausage roll or, on its own as a dip for veggies and chips.

Linen Wedding Organizer Envelopes with a Little Flair

8 · Jul 23, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Wedding planning… I am DEEP into the planning of my first daughter’s wedding that is coming up in a little over a month. I have taken the approach of staying as organized as possible for this monster project. Really, that’s the only way you can prepare for a wedding and not lose your mind! I found some linen organizing envelopes at Target from the Hearth and Hand line created by Joanna Gains the other day and thought they would be perfect to keep things organized for the wedding. Of course, I needed to add some labels and in true WhipperBerry fashion, they needed to look classy. I turned to DecoArt for a little help with their Stylin’ paint perfect for home or fashion accessories of all kinds!

Wedding Organization

Wedding planning is NOT for the faint of heart. So many details, so many emotions, so much stuff! It really pays to be as organized as possible. Like I said before, I found some linen envelope organizers that I thought would be perfect to keep receipts, notes, menus and the like organized. I identified 4 areas that I thought would be good to have specific folders for,

  1. Budget
  2. Travel
  3. Food
  4. Design

Budget

This is where you can keep your notes as far as your budget goes along with receipts for everything purchased and paid for.

Travel

If your family is anything like ours, not everyone lives in the same place. Many family and friends will be traveling from elsewhere and this is a great way to keep track of those notes and itineraries.

Food

Food is one of the big elements to the reception. This is where you can keep track of proposals, budget, menu items, and such.

Design

You can think of this folder as your Pinterest hardcopy. Notes for your overall design of the event, different design elements, floral ideas, invitation ideas and so much more. Keep track of those ideas here along with any other pertinent information for the overall look of the event.

Linen Organizer Wedding Labels

There are a couple of different steps to this easy project and here’s a quick snippet of my Instagram Story to show a little more about how this works.

Label Design

I designed the labels in Cricut Design Space and used my Cricut Maker to cut out the vinyl for the project. I love making stencils with leftover vinyl and then using some DecoArt paint to create all kinds of projects. I’m thrilled to find that I can do the same with fabric, canvas, and leather now as well with DecoArt Stylin’. Here are some the key benefits to DecoArt Stylin’,

  • Flexible paint specially-formulated to prevent cracking or peeling
  • Bonds to surface to create a seamless finish
  • An ideal color palette for fashion décor
  • Water-based
  • Soap and water clean-up

If you are a Cricut user (if not, I highly suggest that you should be, they go hand in hand with paint!) you can access my design in my Design Space profile.  If not, you can create your own stencils designs using other design software and use either a cutting machine or craft knife to cut your stencil out of vinyl or freezer paper.

Linen Wedding Organizer Envelope Supplies

Here are the supplies you will need for your project.

  • linen or canvas folders
  • DecoArt Stylin’ Paint
  • vinyl, stencil vinyl
  • transfer tape
  • stencil sponge brush or a makeup sponge

Instructions

Add some style to fabric or leather office supplies with @decoart Stylin' Paint | #paint #homedecor #officesupplies #wedding #weddingplanning

  1. Cut out your stencil and weed the vinyl make sure to keep the negative side of the design. That just means that you’ll need to remove the letters from the vinyl and leave the rest of your vinyl as the stencil. Be careful that you keep a good eye on the middle sections of letters and those darn dots at the top of “i”.
  2. Cover your stencil in transfer tape and remove the back of the vinyl.
  3. Carefully place the stencil onto the fabric folder and press down with a brayer or scraper tool. Fabric typically has a texture that is going to make it a little tricky to get a truly clean line but, if you press your vinyl down well, you’ll have a pretty good seal.
  4. Remove the transfer tape carefully.
  5. Place a quarter size amount of paint onto a paper plate and use your sponge to lightly dab the paint onto the surface of your organizer. Add some style to fabric or leather office supplies with @decoart Stylin' Paint | #paint #homedecor #officesupplies #wedding #weddingplanningKeep the paint LIGHT to avoid any paint leaking under the stencil. It’s better to have several rounds with light paint than to have an unsightly leak area.
  6. Cover your stenciled image until you have the coverage you would like.Add some style to fabric or leather office supplies with @decoart Stylin' Paint | #paint #homedecor #officesupplies #wedding #weddingplanning
  7. Let dry.
  8. When the paint is dry, remove the stencil and get to work on that darn wedding!
