Hey, good news… IT'S {almost} FRIDAY!!  Yep it's that time again. Time to see what you've whipped up this week for our Friday Flair Link Party! But… before we start the party I have a little business to attend to.

Last year we had a fun event here at WhipperBerry for the 12 Days of Christmas and many of you have been having trouble finding the old posts in order to recreate some of the projects.  Long story short… it seems that the links had broken when we moved from Blogger to WordPress. I have fixed the links and now you can find all of the projects from Last year including the fun Mod Podge Paper Wreath.

Also… Don't forget to enter the Elmer's Craft & Tell giveaway going on this weekend!  They are sending two lucky winners a box full of fabulous Elmer's and X-ACTO products for you to add to your crafting arsenals. Tell all your friends and make sure to enter!!

One more thing… I will be taking next weeks Friday Flair off in order to spend time with my family for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I hope you guys will have a fabulous holiday and I  will look forward to the next Friday Flair on December 1st!

Candy Corn Wreath

104 · Oct 23, 2011 · 14 Comments

Here's a post that I created for Shelley over at House of Smith's awhile ago.  I thought I would post it here just in case you missed it!

Happy Halloween {well, sort of.  We're close enough right?}  I am so excited to be guest posting today on House of Smiths!!  Truly, giddy with excitement to get to meet all of Shelley's friends!!  Let's get the introductions out of the way so we can move on to being great friends… I'm Heather from WhipperBerry!

I have to admit I have been one of those girls who really didn't get into Halloween in the past, I could take it or leave it and be totally fine.  This year however, I have fallen in LOVE all of the creative fun to be had with this holiday.  I know, I know… I'm not sure why it took so long.  Because I haven't been a huge fan, I don't have a  lot of Halloween decor.  This year I worked pretty hard to remedy that, in true WhipperBerry fashion.  Here is one of my FAVORITE projects that I thought I would share with you today!  My Candy Corn Wreath…

Isn't it FUN?!  Here is what you will need to do to make one of your very own…

~ One foam wreath form {mine is about 13 inches across}

~1/2 yard of muslin

~ 1/2 yard of orange canvas fabric

~1/2 yard of yellow canvas fabric

~1/2 yard of off white canvas fabric

~ 200 straight pins

~ Black ribbon

To begin, tear your muslin into long 4 inch wide strips and then wrap your foam wreath form…

Secure the muslin to the foam form with straight pins.  Next, you need to cut your canvas into ROUGHLY 4×4 inch squares.  Don't worry about exact measurements pretty close works perfect for this project.  Once you have your squares cut, start with the orange and  take one square and fold in half and then fold in half again.  Take a straight pin and pin it to the wreath form like this…

Continue to fill in the orange working them close together to give it a nice full effect.  Wimpy wreaths look sad, so don't be stingy!! Use the entire 1/2 a yard of orange at the bottom of the wreath….

Once you are done with the orange, start working on the yellow.  It works best if you split your squares in half and then you will have an equal amount on each side…

Now, you are in the home stretch… work in the off-white canvas and you are almost done…

Grab your ipod and a good audio book, or cue up your DVR… this is a simple and easy wreath that I promise with only take you a couple of hours.  I actually loved sitting there listening to my book while I made it {It was, "The Book Thief" just incase you were wondering.}  Once you are done, tie your black ribbon into a basic bow and pin to the top of the wreath and viola, you're finished.  You now have a simple and STUNNING Candy Corn wreath that all of your friends are going to LOVE!!!  Now that you have the basic idea down it's going to be so much fun making all kinds of canvas wreaths for all seasons.  I'm already working on  The Candy Cane wreath for Christmas!!! You'll have to stop by WhipperBerry and subscribe so that you don't miss that little beauty!!
