Vanilla Macchiato Glaze Recipe + Pumpkin Recipe Ideas

9 · Sep 16, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Vanilla Macchiato Glaze Recipe from whipperBerry

One of the best parts of Fall is the ushering in of the baking season! You know what I’m talking about… Summer has been so hot, too hot to turn on the oven. Plus, we’ve been enjoying the fruits of the season, YUM! Now it’s time to turn our attention to the love of all things pumpkin & spice that goes so well with my new Vanilla Macchiato Glaze that I’m sharing today.

But, before I do that that, here are a few of my favorite fall pumpkin recipes from over the years here on WhipperBerry to get the fall baking ideas flowing. Some of these recipes will go great with this new Vanilla Macchiato Glaze…

5 Pumpkin Recipe Ideas

Who needs PSL when you can have a Pumpkin Spice Steamer right at home. Recipe from WhipperBerry

Pumpkin Spice Steamer

I know this isn’t a baking idea, but man-oh-man, this steamer pairs lovely with all things baked! Give it a go, I promise you’ll love me for it!

I am one who can NEVER turn down a good pumpkin cookie and these cookies with the tart cranberry are delicious!

Almost all of those recipes will go great with this new glaze recipe minus the yogurt and the steamer I guess. Ready to learn how to make it?

You’re going to laugh, it’s so easy. It’s cheating really.

Now the reason I came up with this was a silly little mix-up in my schedule. I FORGOT that I needed to bring treats to a gathering of friends and I needed something quick!

I know you’ve been there at one time or another. I’m never adverse to bringing something store-bought to a gathering, I just have to dress it up a bit to make it “look” homemade. That is exactly what I did that afternoon. I ran to the store and bought some cinnamon coffee cake muffins and brought them home to dress them up. I thought they would look good if I put them into some fancier wrappers and then topped them off with a little glaze. I looked into my refrigerator and found some International Delight Vanilla Macchiato Creamer and thought it would make a lovely glaze.

Yep, it’s as easy as that. Using the creamer rather than milk adds that lovely flavor from the creamer to your glaze. It’s extra special! I just drizzled the glaze over the store-bought muffins and voila, I have a great treat that looks homemade! Shhhh, no one needs to know your secret.

Let’s face it… Mornings can be ROUGH! But, they don’t have to be.

I know that we are mid-summer at the moment, but I’m already starting to dread back-to-school. My kiddos start in early August, so we really only have a few more precious weeks of summer left.

Now is the time to perfect our morning routine so that as we transition back into school mode, we already have a good habit to start the year off right. We sat down and pow-wow’d and came up with some great breakfast ideas and some morning hack ideas that we think will help our family have fabulous mornings and maybe your family as well!

Morning Hack #1 Plan Ahead

Nothing tanks a day faster than not having a plan. We have found that a little planning ahead of time makes for smoother mornings. Happier kiddos and definitely a happier Mom. Plan outfits, pack backpacks & make lunches the night before.

You can even make your power packed breakfast the night before with my Overnight Protein Power Oatmeal recipe!

Morning Hack #2 Keep a Well Stocked Pantry & Fridge

Jif-Peanut-Butter-Fruity-Breakfast-Hacks-by-WhipperBerry-1

One of the keys to happy mornings at our house is having a well stocked pantry and fridge. Now that doesn’t mean we have an over abundance of food that goes to waste. We’ve figured out some key staples that can make several different recipes with just a few key ingredients.  All of the recipes I’m sharing today have been developed with the basic ingredients above.

Fruit, nuts, flat bread, rolled oats, milk, honey, cottage cheese, yogurt and Jif® Flavored Peanut Butter Spreads in Maple & Cinnamon. That’s it! With just those ingredients my kiddos and I can make several different types of breakfasts that they all love like our fruit pizza that my little guy adores!

Morning Hack #3 Be Flexible

Now, I know that my first suggestion is to plan ahead BUT… What if your pre-schooler wants ice cream for breakfast and won’t take no for an answer? Or your middle schooler refuses to go to school without the right kind of hair spray (yep, I did that to my Mom once. 1st day of 7th grade. I had run out of Aqua Net. Stellar Middle School moment! Sorry Mom!) Pre-schoolers, middle schoolers… Really all kiddos are classic for this, trust me, I know the pain!

The key here is to be flexible. Learn how to go with the flow… Your pre-schooler wants ice cream for breakfast? Make them a smoothie bowl and they won’t know what hit them!

Morning Hack #4 Take Time to Slow Down

Even during the summer things can be really hectic in the morning. Chores, playdates, swim lessons you name it… Mornings can typically be a rush. On the mornings that aren’t a rush, TAKE TIME TO SLOW DOWN. Saturday or Sundays can be perfect for this. Take time to slow down and make something that is extra special for the family. Take the time to sit and giggle together, get to know each other better. These are the mornings that we want to remember for years to come!

When we take the time to slow down, our family loves to eat pancakes. I’m not always jazzed about the lack of nutrition in traditional pancakes so I’ve upped my game and made some gluten-free, protein packed pancakes that my family loves!

Bottom line is, you want to have smooth mornings with your family and you want them to have nutritious meals that fuel them for the day. With a little prep work you can achieve just that and EVERYONE will be healthy & happy!! Invite Jif® Flavored Peanut Butter Spreads to breakfast and you’ll be a ROCK STAR!!

Hazelnut Iced Choffy Latte – A Coffee Alternative

13 · Jun 16, 2016 · 1 Comment

Hazelnut Iced Choffy Latte from WhipperBerry - Brewed Chocolate a coffee alternative.

 Full disclosure here…

I do not drink coffee, I do however drink Choffy. A scrumptious coffee alternative. It’s basically brewed chocolate. YUM!  Well not really brewed chocolate… It’s roasted, ground and then brewed cocao beans. The same beans that they make chocolate from. When brewed this way, it is a dark, bitter drink pretty close to coffee (so I’ve been told.) And, just like coffee, it taste great with cream and sugar. I particularly like to make an iced version with my favorite International Delight Coffee Creamer!

Right now my flavor of choice is the nutty Hazelnut flavored International Delight Coffee Creamer. It’s perfect for a Hazelnut Iced Choffy Latte. It’s such a refreshing drink during the hot summer months. And I love to drink a hot version during the winter. But if you’re an avid coffee drinker, you may also check out https://balancecoffee.co.uk/ for a range of speciality coffee options.

This is super easy to make and you can use Choffy or any other coffee alternative like Pero, Postum or Cafix. They are all just as good. Brew a batch of your favorite coffee alternative and then pour over ice.

Fill your glass roughly 3/4 full.

Now add your International Delight Hazelnut Creamer. I add about an ounce…

Then I top of the glass with milk.

 Doesn’t it look pretty!

 Stir and then enjoy!

Peaches and Cream Iced Tea

5 · May 20, 2016 · Leave a Comment

+ This Peaches and Cream Iced Tea recipe is brought to you by International Delight +

Peaches and Cream Iced Tea from WhipperBerry

Spring is in full bloom here in Lincoln. I’ve been having fun tending all of my new plants for this season. I’m a fairly novice gardener but, I’m giving it a good go. For years I’ve killed everything that I get my hands on. My husband will say when I walk in the door with new plants, “Are these this years victims?” NICE! This year I am determined to develop a green thumb! I will have fresh home grown tomatoes darn it!!

To me when I’m working out in the yard in the warm Spring and Summer sun the first thing that comes to mind is… “What refreshing drink shall we have!”

I grew up with a Father who loved peaches and let’s just say the peach didn’t fall too far from the tree. I’ve become a bit obsessed with peach lately. A few weeks ago I told you about a fun little concoction that I came up with for a Peach Melba Italian Soda and today, I want to share my Peaches and Cream Iced Tea.

When I was a kid, every once in a while when we would have a bunch of really good summer peaches, my Dad would cut up a couple of the juicy gems and put them in a bowl. Then he would pour a little bit of cream over the top and share this treat with me. It didn’t happen often, but when it did… My oh my, I was in heaven!

Now we are not currently in the hight of peach season BUT, I thought it would be fun to brew-up some herbal peach tea and create my own peaches and cream treat with the help of International Delight French Vanilla creamer…

All you need is your favorite peach tea, I like Celestial Seasonings Country Peach Passion and a tall glass of ice.
